Wednesday hides the bodies

*buys another 23 lottery tickets*

I properly sent a "Universe, why not me, this Wednesday" message when I was Covid fever hallucinating in my sleep the other night. Just putting this here so the world knows I'm psychic when I win tonight :disco:

God I'd love to not work

I'd quite happily loll around the house in dirty underpants all day scratching myself.

I've told Mr L that in exchange for this I'd happily make him his tea every night, but STRANGELY he didn't jump at the opportunity :(

I think Mr Sheena is slowly coming around to the idea. He LIKES work. I'm quite happy with a side hustle making me enough to go on holidays and buy records and get drunk when I like as long as he's TAKING CARE OF THE BILLS.

If I won the lottery, enough to retire, I would never work another day in my life.

I'd pay off my mortgage, buy a house and rent my flat out, then travel for as long as i could.

I suppose I'd bring Mandy along as well.

I don't understand people who work when they don't need to.

I wish I'd met someone who had told me I didn't need to work and could just be a housewife.

I'd happily keep the home tidy and cook dinners for my partner in exchange for not working.

I'd even cut their sandwiches and fruit into flower shapes.

I wouldn't even bother with a letter of resignation. I'd just post my work laptop to the office and never be heard from again

Oh quite. These people who win millions and say "Oh it won't change me, I'm straight back to work on Monday!" should have it TAKEN AWAY AGAIN

I always say this. "Janet, 83, says the win won't stop her from her LOLLIPOP LADY and SIX CLEANING JOBS on Monday."

WELL JANET SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED TO FUCKING PLAY THEN.

What really happened is the menopause hit, and I went through terrible depression and re evaluated everything and thought IS THIS ACTUALLY LIVING? Time for me to do what makes ME happy, and being a LADY OF LEISURE travelling when I want, being close to my family and not having many responsibilities is what makes me happy.

I couldn't be a kept woman though. God no

You and I are the same. See my comment above- I'm happy he's paying the bills right now, but I've paid them for 13 years while he studied and our current split of everything is probably still something like 60-40.

My dream of retiring at 50 and living off the fudge profits may not be working as well as I hoped. I may need to reduce the amount of holidays I have :(

Oh I am TOTALLY having a mid life crisis. I don't want to be running this company forever- I want someone else to do it for me whilst I rake the money in. I'm already FAIRLY BORED of it :D

Totally understand that! Well done for putting you first

Starting a business from scratch is HARD WORK. I admire you for knowing your worth, leaving the company you worked for and starting alone. I don’t think I would have ever had the courage to do that had I ever worked for a company. You are only in your 40’s and things are going well for you, and it is always lovely not having to answer to anybody and being your own boss.

OF COURSE if you could find someone trustworthy to HOLD THE FORT for you and you could fuck off and take the profits that would be much preferable I’m sure.

I wouldn't stop work immediately, although I reckon I could probably claim to have had a mental again, go off on the Pat & Mick and then not come back. But I've always wanted to quit a job suddenly and in high dudgeon so I might want to take the opportunity.

That's DEFINITELY the idea. I want to pop in once every few weeks, check it's ticking over and FUCK RIGHT OFF again.

Basically, the goal is to earn enough to buy a slightly bigger company with an existing client base I can exploit and move from there. But that feels a LONG WAY OFF right now.

I wouldn't really want to stop work immediately - I would feel responsibility to my clients rather than my employer in that respect.

But I have to give two months notice. Could I really be arsed hauling this achey old carcass out of bed every morning for TWO MONTHS when I knew I had millions in the bank? I very much doubt it.

You will get there. I know it’s easy for me to say that but knowing you from here for 20 years I would say that you have more drive and determination than most. I do also get that sometimes that can be frustrating when it seems close, yet so far away.

Moopy females, any tips on getting hair dye off vinyl flooring 😬 I need it gone before Mandy gets home and sees it.

Some days I feel I have drive and determination...

...and others I'm basically SUB RACHEY LEVELS OF WORK ETHIC :D
I have absolutely no shame in my dislike of working. I'd much rather be travelling and meeting friends for lunch than being at work.

Poor Rachey

I bet there are some days when her fudge paddle is a BLUR

If I could go back 3 years knowing what I know now, I'm not sure I'd open my own business. Mandy would still as she loves it. But it's far too much like hard work for me

Very the very odd career exception, who in their right minds would LIKE working?

Sometimes I forget how to even make fudge after I've had a holiday. It's a hard life. Luckily my next holiday is only 2 months away.

My step sister is a recently qualified vet nurse where I used to work and she absolutely adores it! She misses it when she's away and loves going in. She's mental.

I think I'd be quite happy going back to working in a supermarket, like I did when I was a student. I quite enjoyed talking to people, helping old ladies out etc. etc. I actively enjoyed that job.

And, of course, running a record shop would be the dream.

Oh GOD that is a nightmare to get out. Erm, nail polish remover? Failing that, bleach?

I tried bleach, well actually I tried mould remover spray with bleach in it. It faded it but it hasn't gone. I'll try nail polish remover next!
