I'm not sure it's a bond but he recognises me and follows me around and when I sit down on the sofa and he's pootling around the floor he tries to bite my toes or clambers over my feet. They're very boring creatures really but also quite soothing.
Some neighbours have one in their garden but they rarely come so it's usually my parents that feed it & it kind of runs when it sees them and gives them some friendly bites too.

Pebbles has never hibernated because he lives in a vivarium where it's just like a lovely Spanish summer all year round. I let him out in the garden in summer but only for a couple of hours at a time.
How big is he? I feel like Harold would need a big vivarium. He's quite a chunk.

I read that as drunk :D

That's it, I know what I'll be YouTubing later - I already got quite addicted to watching Japanese otters a while back.

Here's Harold last summer.

His plastron (underneath shell) is slightly larger than the palm of my hand and fingers. He's "only" 22 but I think he's fully grown. I've heard that living in a viv restricts their growth as opposed to wild or outside tortoises.
