Wednesday - starring Catherine Zeta Jones (Netflix)

I've never even been an Addams Family fan, but I can't wait for this. The production looks really good. The piranhas :D

This is gonna be such an excellent career move for CZJ. The children don't even know.

Looks promising (and Jenny Ortega is a good actor). I hope it keeps its tongue firmly in its cheek.

Looking past the fact that Netflix has essentially made this series ten times over already, and I'll probs only watch 3 eps before getting bored (ala Chilling Adventures of Sabrina / Lemony Snicket / The Umbrella Academy), I am excited for this.

I love Catherine Zeta Jones so am pleased she's finally been taken out of storage (for such a :disco: role too) and the piranha bit from the trailer is fabulous

Finally I could see the original post - I had already bookmarked this on Netflix for concépté alone, but it looks good.

That kid is basically doing “young Aubrey Plaza”

Looking forward to the ultimate smoky eye too.

I love CZJ so much, really hope this sparks a bit of a revival. A MOVIE STAR (despite having not had a sniff of a hit in about 20 years)

This is obviously her finest post-Chicago performance, and the only thing I'd save from the first season of Feud.

I'm TRAPPED in a SMALL PRIVATE ELEVATOR! :disco: :disco: :disco:

Well this is out - I’d say it looks good but the characters are a little FLAT.

Wednesday feels like they just showed her a GIF of Aubrey Plaza rolling her eyes and said “just do that”. For such an iconic character, they have sucked all the fun out of her.

I don’t know what the fuck was going on with the Gomez casting, he’s just like a lumpy goblin, isn’t he supposed to be a bit move suave?

And CZJ isn’t a patch on Anjelica, even if she DOES have the ultimate smoky eye.

I mean it wasn’t bad but it just feels like Aubrey Plaza GIF in Dark Sabrina at the moment.

I detect a hint of “no wait don’t go” by putting a season trailer at the end of the first episode.

It seems like there are only 8x45min episodes so I don’t feel like it’s such a big time investment so I’ll keep going

Watched episode 2 and yeah I’m in, it had a bit more of an interesting story.

It’s weirdly distracting to have Christina Ricci in it though, especially since she has trouble smiling like a human

Gwendoline really needs to chew some scenery too

It's think it's fun. But yeah it's for a different audience than I thought it would be. The story is very preteen.

But I'm in. The mystery aspect of it is good.

Ok, so it's overall a fun watch. It's VERY Harry Potter, but a little gorier.

The one annoying thing I noticed was how some of the big climactic moments got the CLUNKIEST production :D
Especially:
When Mrs Thornhill stabs the Principal, who just politely kneels and dies LOL
When the villain turns out to be the easiest fucking kill on the show
When Enid FINALLY morphs and all we get is 3 seconds of her shuffling into a generic CGI werewolf

7.5/10

I'm liking this. I like that Wednesday doesn't blink but there are so many close ups it's giving me Handmaid Tale vibes.

I was happy they chose CZJ for Morticia but now I've started watching she just ain't cutting it, Anjelica did it so much better and then some. I'm also a big fan of Luis Guzman but he's completely wrong for Gomez, Gomez is meant to be handsome but Luis looks like an overmicrowaved jacket potato in a bad wig.

I've only watched the first two episodes up to now though.
