Bless your heart! It's OK, I'll get some tomorrow. Just glad I did them fairly early this year for ONCE.

If you change your mind just let me know. I get them free and I used to put them on Ebay but haven't done it for a few years now so I've got loads of them as well as maybe fifty different presentation packs. The spawn took 200 of them for her save the dates and wedding invitations and it hardly made a dent.

I need some dog advice. So my old girl has had arthritis since she was 6, and is going to turn 13 in February. She has been soldiering on whilst gradually walking less, but still has a massive appetite (which I have been making sure no titbits as weight can be a big problem for arthritis in dogs). Since Monday she has been limping on her front paw and I don’t know why. She can barely walk the length of herself, but is still going outdoors for the toilet and eating and drinking and is surprisingly still really happy. I don’t know what she has done to her paw! It doesn’t look broken and isn’t swollen, or anything and am petrified to take her to the vet incase they put her down. Would they do that if she is still happy? I just worry what quality of life I am giving her if her front leg does not recover. I am in such a quandary.

The vet absolutely wouldn't put her down without you agreeing, unless they think she's really suffering and has no quality of life. But it has to be a real neglect case for them to do that without your permission.

Go see them and more than likely they will give her some pain relief.

They can in extreme cases. We put a cat to sleep last week and had to get the police involved because the owners refused to euthanize it.

She is 12 (13 in Feb) and is a Labrador. She isn’t on any medication from the vet , and has been getting by on YuMove tablets which we initially noticed a difference when she started taking them but not so sure now?

She was lying out in the garden when she was sick (she is very clean and would not make a mess in the house even just now when she seems very weak) but has made her way back in the house and is now zonked in bed.

She may need pain relief. Meloxaid / metacam is good starter for pain relief to see if that helps. If she's not much better after a few weeks they can try stronger meds like tramadol.
I guess if she is in pain that could be making her drowsy. Is she eating normally? Been ok up until today?

I got very annoyed with a poor receptionist yesterday and thought of you. They said they couldn’t see her until Saturday and she would just need to go around as she is until then. I gave the woman a mouthful and then felt guilty afterwards as it isn’t her fault. Managed to get an appointment somewhere else today so going there.

She was eating normally up until today, and didn’t eat her breakfast then she was sick in the garden. Tried to take her a walk just around the garden but she just lay down. She has been far from perfect for a while, but has still managed to persevere and find a way to get up on the sofa and was going on her walks. I think it was Monday when she started limping really badly on her front paw which I think up until now has been overcompensating her back end being frail so she has been getting around happily although slowly. Now she can’t seem to put weight on one of her front paws so is struggling to walk at all. I don’t know what she has done to her front paw as I pretty much wrap her in cotton wool, but she may have hurt it getting down from the couch or something? I really don’t know.

Sounds like your vet is as ridiculously busy as us. I can see why you got annoyed at her, but it's so frustrating when it's Reception that get the abuse. Although, had you phoned me saying your dog wasn't walking and was being sick, that's a same day emergency appt.

It sounds like she might be in quite a bit of pain with her joints. So they should recommended pain relief first. Although if she has an upset tummy that affects what they can give her.

Again, totally not the Receptionists fault, but I can see why he as angry. Reception don't cancel appts for fun. In fact it's one of the things I dread having to do most , because of the abuse we get.
