I toyed with the idea of letting Ron Jr stay up for it but the iffy weather put me off, I showed him some of the prep though before bed to get excited about and I’ll watch it with him again in the morning.

There are loads of videos on NASA's website too if he's interested in spacey stuff. It's not just the iffy weather there, there's lots of wispy cloud here too but it's still a reasonable chance it'll be scrubbed. I've not heard any talk of launch windows so I assume if it's off it's off for today.

He does, we always watch the Space X launches/landings when they do them. Back when I was homeschooling we went to Jodrell Bank on a 'school trip'

If it was 100% he'd be up now watching it live.
 
Just been watching the live stream on Facebook and someone said 'stay safe and have fun' - bless!
 
I tried to do a nice thing, I told the neighbours they could put some rubbish in our bin as there was space and theirs was overflowing. Despite everything I feel bad there's 8/9 people living in there and they only have a small bin. I then see one of them putting recycling into our bin, so we had to go back out and sort it out :argh:
 
Sadly it'll probably be still too light for us to see it go over at that time. It's been nearly 10 years since I last managed to watch the launch live and then go outside and see it I reckon.
 
My app says this for today's passes:

Start / End / Peak / Mg

What are PEAK and MG and why are some passes highlighted - are they the BEST ones and if so why?

I would think that Peak is the maximum elevation in the sky, if you think of the horizon as 0 degrees and overhead as 90 degrees but I've no idea what the Mg number is, it might be magnification if you're looking through a telescope or something?
 
Right I'm on your NASA site now... so a high peak is good cos you've more chance of seeing it without shit getting in the way.

Yes, I can't see anything lower than 45 degrees because of the houses. The NASA one is idiot-proof, that's why I use it :D
 
I’d guess Mg is astronomical magnitude, with -2.8 being being brighter than -2.1.
 
Yes apparently Mg is magnitude and the lower the number the brighter it is. OKAY.
