What are you doing for Christmas 2024?

As I am sure you are all tired of hearing I am between houses in Ireland and Scotland, but as usual me and the 500 are heading back to my Scottish abode for Christmas. We leave on Monday and will be back in Ireland for New Year. I have been incredibly lazy this year (although I usually cook for 18 of us) but have hired caterers to do everything for us this year. Stupidly expensive but I can’t be BOTHERED and want to enjoy it for a change as I think it may well be the last in Scotland.

What are we all up to?

Finally fulfilling my life long dream of launching a fashion range based on the style of Maximilien Robespierre.

I can't read Rita's post and not think of Joan Damry and her Scottish castle.

Not quite on that level my love. :D I am entitled to a year off! I usually spend my time in the kitchen for everyone (with a constantly topped up glass of red) but I have even had someone set up the Christmas table this year due to the fact I can not be bothered. Next year will be at one of my siblings I think.

We’ve got nearly thirty coming this year including relatives from PORTUGAL for the first time. Christmas Eve will be the usual piss up at the panto and then there’s people coming round on Boxing Day. Going straight back into work on the 27th is going to be painful :D

Nearly 30? OMG! Who is cooking for that lot??
It’s being split up. My MOTHER is in charge but my cousins are sorting some of the meat, one set of grandparents are sorting the turkey, other grandparents are pre-prepping the veg. Most of the starters have already been cooked and frozen.

Fabulous. I have to do it with military precision and am my own worst enemy as I am offered help but people just seem to get in my way. Getting different people to bring different courses sounds delightful and heating it up and preparing should be a breeze. Well I am not sure I could manage it for 30. 18 is more than enough. :zombie:

I don’t think there is a big difference between cooking for 18 and cooking for 30 tbh - if you have enough space

Yeah I love it with a passion but I’m excited about doing something different this year. I’ll still do some fancy shit on the beach though. Ron Jr wants me to bbq some lobster the spoilt little lord

I actually think we’ll have a big feast christmas eve and then just take picnic based left overs to the beach

We are going to my brother's in seaview along with my mum and stepdad.

There's no buses there on Christmas day so we have to walk home (about 1.5 hours) so I'm hoping it's not raining.

Back home for Gavin and Stacey and then work on Boxing Day :(

Will it be busy boxing day? We always used to open but it just wasn't busy, so we're closed now. The only 4 days we close are Easter Sunday, Xmas day, Boxing day and new years day.

My parents are arriving tomorrow evening.

It's a bit weird when you're working round the clock until 23rd of December. I'm looking forward to seeing my family but it doesn't really feel like Christmas at all.

Just facetimed my parents to talk food plans and after browsing the Alcampo website I am excited. Christmas eve pinchos, meat and seafood and then a big picnic for the Christmas day beach party. I already want to be living in Spain again
