Far across the hills, the evening crows call,
Under fading skies, the shadows gently fall.
Clouds drift lazily where summer breezes roam,
Keeping quiet company on their journey home.
Over winding rivers, silver moonlight spills,
From distant valleys to the tops of sleeping hills.
Fireflies stitch bright patterns through the darkened air.
Hushed are all the meadows resting everywhere,
Evening wraps the countryside in velvet blue,
And every leaf seems brushed with dew.
Through the ancient woodland, owls begin to glide,
Heading where the hidden forest secrets hide.
Each small sound carries softly through the night,
Rising with the stars and fading with the light.
Stillness fills the world where daylight used to be,
Mingling with the murmur of the distant sea.
All the while the moon keeps watch above it all,
Lighting every pathway, every lane and wall.
Long may such peaceful evenings gently fall.
