Avant Qué L'Ombre will always be special as it was the first one I bought on release and only a couple of the ballads are weak points. When I'm in the right mood Anamorphosée really hits the spot. Bleu Noir has some great highs and works so well as an album but of late the winner is Innamoramento just gorgeous.

Innamoramento for me too, but both Bleu Noir and Ainsi Soit Je are very close behind.

Bleu Noir really was the late career KICK UP THE ARSE she needed.

Bleu Noir was where I first came in at the time of an album release and it hit all the spots for me so I feel most connected to that. I had Les Mots at the time too but hadn’t deep dived.

I'm still so fucking irked she went back to Boutonnat for the drivel of Monkey Me when she'd done so much to make herself relevant and had an actual proper-sized hit for the first time in a long time with "Oui...Mais Non".

It's L'AUTRE for me because it's the first one I heard after YET ANOTHER FUCKING MENTAL UNEMPLOYABLE BOYFRIEND put 'Regrets (Extended Club Mix)' on a MIX TAPE

My first MYL outlet was MTV Europe around the time of Je T'aime Mélancolie, which, frankly, is JUST AS VALID introduction.

Innamoramento probably has the highest start-to-finish hit rate, but Ainsi Soit Je… is the one I find myself gravitating to the most. I just love the unsettling, paranoid vibe running through it. Plus the singles are just undeniable.

I'm playing this now and keep thinking back to this comment. I always think of it as a very dark, very wintry album. The videos (mostly) being quite BLEAK, in colour at least, add to that. But there is something about the music that is just...well...off kilter that makes it, yes, unsettled, and her vocals match that beautifully. The music of the title track feels like it's a note or two off where it should be and the beat one step behind, if that makes any sense. The vocal occasionally comes close to veering off key as well. You have to presume that was deliberate. Even the entirely out of place Déshabillez- Moi feels deranged and wrong in a way that actually makes sense.

Anyway, all perfect for an album that deals with suicide, death and mental illness.

It perked me RIGHT DOWN, yesterday so ENJOY some DEATH and SUICIDE of a Wednesday, love :disco:

Bleu Noir hitting the spot this après-midi
