Is it wrong that I really want to download the audiobook of James And The Giant Peach, because it's James Acaster reading it?

I've just come from a talk by the history group of the area I grew up in. Lots of extended family there, which was nice :eyes: . But talk of the day was the discovery of an illegitimate cousin nobody there previously knew existed :o

I think I'm going to have to do some investigating

I did a collection for the food bank local to work over xmas, my store got recognised by our company for it. They presented me with a £30 box of posh chocolates. I don't mean to be ungrateful but there's some irony in that :bad:
 
Good evening my darlings.

I have been over in Ireland since Tuesday getting everything ready for the big move and everything now seems very REAL. A house built from scratch on a perfect plot of land and now fully furnished that was only ever a dream has finally happened. I am both devastated and stupidly excited at the same time. Such a strange feeling.

This house is not getting sold YET, as I may go back home and want to come back and it is kind of nice to go between both if I choose to BUT I am now fully retired and now my children are old enough to fend for themselves I am heading back out from where I started. To see the World again starting with a month in America to visit friends in September. :disco:

As if you ever needed an invite. That is open ended to (pretty much) anyone here. Lots of space, and always a guaranteed good time.

It is very remote, but we are around 2 miles from Glenties. Easy to drive to and from, but lots of local taxis too if you need to get around and don’t want to drive. We are on the Wild Atlantic Way, and it is absolutely BREATHTAKING.
 
Not to name drop but Meryl Streep, and Christine Baranski (Clunk) both have houses locally, and are regulars in The Highlands Hotel in Glenties.

I am leaving a child here, so I am bereft. It is only an hour on the plane back to Glasgow and then around an other hour and a half driving back here, so it’s not too bad but I can’t just pop in. She is coming to America with us for her 21st but then she is coming back to Scotland. :(
 
It was Independence Day here and should have cooked fried cod with flour and beer and some garlic sauce but I forgot to buy cod fillets and ended up making pizza 🤷‍♂️

So is that like our beer battered fish? I have never tried it with a garlic sauce. We would usually have it with a tartar sauce.

I think I've got a problem with those ASMR soap cutting videos. I've just been watching them while Mr L is reading and he told me I'm (evidently not quite) silently groaning with pleasure.

Oooh I'm going to have a look. We want to do some whittling in the summer and I was thinking of carving soap.

I've started to love the ones that aren't all scored and chopped now. The visual isn't quite so satisfying in terms of seeing all the little pieces scatter, but when it's one of the translucent, waxy soaps (like Pears) the sound is so lovely, and seeing the knife glide through it and the slicing sheets of soap is immensely pleasing.

Oh I have seen a fair few of those, but they don't produce the sound I like as much as the cut ones. I like the crunching noise.

I've also started watching people crushing chalk...omg!
