Which tours are you going to/hoping for in 2023?

Absolutely nothing :disco: I think I might be done with gigs for a while, the thought of being at one just fills me with dread now.

Why's that? Fear of Covid, crowds, spending half your retirement fund on topping up Madonna's Art Basel budget?

I honestly think a big part of it was the last gig I went to (Sugababes here in Glasgow) having one of the most dreadful feral crowds I've ever encountered :D Some girl kept pushing her phone screen into our face with the word "Poppers?" emblazoned on it  And everyone else just seemed awful and it was so overcrowded so there was probably an element of claustrophobia too. The show itself was great though!

Though like you, I might give in for Kylie - that'll be in a bigger venue though, and have decent seated options... god I sound ANCIENT :D

Even the ABBA Voyage crowd had a couple of pushy types who were determined to elbow closer at random points

It put me right off my SWAY during Chiquitita

Tori in March and Madonna x2 in October. If LYRA tours Ireland again I'll definitely see her as well, she was amazing when I saw her last year.

I am the same, for the same reasons, I will make an exception for Kylie and Celine (if she ever tours again :() but I think I've just got to that stage I'm not that FUSSED anymore.

I just can’t do with the endless WAITING AROUND. Only big comedy shows seem to have an actual planned start/end time. So few places ever actually stick to them when they are advertised too.

Of course venues want to sell food and drinks to early arrivals, but that often creates hostile drunk people before a show has even begun. No matter how savvy you may be to arrive at the right time, there will be hundreds or even thousands there who are not pleasant to be around.

In big venues in big cities, a lot of the audience will have also commuted in. One show at the O2 I went to had entire empty sections up to 45 minutes before the show ended because people had to get their last trains and had to leave.

YES

Give me an advertised 20:30 start for the main act please :D

I also think the crowds have gotten worse over the years. So many people seem to go to gigs only cos they’re SUPPOSED TO. And then they spend the whole time LOUDLY CHATTING with one another. It’s enough to make me smack them with my POCKETBOOK
Oh I could have punched a VERY NOISY GAY at the Natalie Imbruglia concert.
I just settled on GLARING

the prices are much more reasonable than Madonna

I’ve seen TikTok’s with the prices over 1000. I’ll drop maybe 200-300 for a show but no more. I don’t think I’m the target for these things.

:eyes: The less said about the latter, the better. STOP FUNDING HATE indeed. Anyway he’ll probably have a strop about mylks and the show will end within 10 minutes. How many Madonna tickets did you buy in the end? NOT JUDGING, JUST ASKING

:hostage:

I initially had some wild notion about going to three Loreen shows (not that they’ve been announced yet) but I think it’s better to go to one. I saw Dead Can Dance twice on one tour and one show would have been enough. It intensifies the experience :disco:
