Virginia Highlands
Cabbagetown
Reynoldstown
Poncey Highlands
West end
east Atlanta village
Decatur
Oakhurst

buckhead is meh and very suburban feeling

I haven’t been to Savannah since I was a child, but I want to go back. North Georgia is beautiful. I wouldn’t really recommend any other cities in Georgia. Augusta and Columbus are fine but no reason to see them really. I would say see Atlanta and then hike in the north Georgia mountains
 
I would like to visit Rachel, Nevada. For obvious reasons...

I think this is what puts me off a little. The lack of high rise buildings and skyscrapers are the best part of Europe.

Depends of how they fit in with the rest of the architecture. In Manhattan I think they look amazing. It’s more this jarring contrast between a few skyscrapers then nothing but big parking spaces and a a couple of lowrise buildings.

The Midwestern states are super underrated. Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin get lots of praise from residents and visitors, but almost no coverage in the media.

Indianapolis is still shit though apparently.

Ooh yes! I like Plymouth. A bit older and snobby but cute downtown. It's closer to Ann Arbor but not far from Detroit/Dearborn either. I'm in Birmingham.

I went to Indianapolis in 2019 and was quite pleasantly surprised. It kind of reminds me of Cleveland without the water. Underrated and charming city, although not an essential travel destination.

I enjoy Michigan cause you can probably have whatever experience you want given the diversity of the cities (Detroit, Ann Arbor, Royal Oak/Birmingham, Grand Rapids, Upper Peninsula). I haven't seen enough of Minnesota or Wisconsin.
 
Right before Miss Rona, I was planning a trip to NYC. Turns out even with my French passport, I need a visa because I also have an Iraqi passport :eyes:

when I went to the embassy to get one, they handed me my papers back and asked for (wait for it)... MY PHD SUPERVISOR’S CV and PASSPORT COPY.

Obviously that was still Trump and Miss Rona happened anyway, but still FUCK THE US THEY CAN LICK MY CUNT.

BEEN THERE. Well kinda. My parents had the same problem. It might be best to just get rid. The old country just isn't what it used to be.

Just so I can visit a country? There are loads more countries in there world for me to see before I decide to GIVE IN TO RACISM.

Not many given my close proximity but to be honest the whole place has always UNNERVED me. :D
 
I’ve assumed that changing planes doesn’t count, but if it does I can add Georgia and Ohio.
 
As is the case with my trips in general, I tend to go back to the same places again and again, so while I've been to the US over 50 times I've actually only been to about 10 states.

NYC is like a 3rd home to me so I don't really consider it a holiday spot any more. So after that my favourite place was probably Boston. Love DC as well but fuck it's hot in the summer.
 
I really want to go to New Orleans and Austin out of the places yet to visit, but it's actually still a long list. I need to do a road trip and tick off a bunch at once.

I really want to go back to the West Coast again. Preferably a little further up north, Oregon - Portland - Seattle. But I did love the coastal drive from San Francisco to L.A. a lot. It was stunning.

We had a skyscrapers thread on here years back. You just reminded me of it. It was proper geeky and fabulous. I love them too. I lived in Nine Elms London for 6 years, you should GOOGLE THAT

I've also wanted to do the west coast road trip for a long long time and never gotten round to it. Vancouver down to San Diego.

I did San Fran/LA/Vegas triangle trip two years ago and that was fun... but that was flights and visiting friends. You really need to go with someone on a road trip the whole way.
 
I've hardly been to the west coast. I really want to do that drive from SF down to LA (or Vancouver to San Diego, but that seems like it would take forever). I've never even been to LA
 
I did an overnight Greyhound from LA to Vegas and it was NOT as magical as I imagined.
