Whistle Down the Thursday

I have about six hours worth of meetings today, and some critical work I was given last night which needs to be completed by tomorrow morning.
I need @Soldi to teach me the ways of the octopus so I can get it all done.

Off to the antiques market after the interview to hopefully find that DREADED TABLE for my flat.

Hi moopy. I've been awake since 6am because I thought Heathcliff was being sick. But luckily he wasn't.

So yesterday on local Isle of Wight social media, every vet on the island got slated because on Saturday morning a swan was injured in the harbour. All vets were booked out with client emergencies so couldn't attend but did all say to people to bring the swan to a vet for treatment.

RSPCA refused to help.

Anyway now islanders want all vets closed down because of it and for the Queen to be informed because apparently we've all commited treason.

I mean. I'm not often speechless. But why are people so fucking stupid.

Why would the RSPCA refuse to help? I’ve heard similar stories of them from all over not doing anything when animal abuse has been reported.

There's apparently only one officer on the island and I think he might have been dealing with something else. But literally all that needed to be done was for someone to take the swan to any vets. The public had already secured the swan and taken loads of photos, but no one thought to drive it to safety :square:

I've read about the swan and it seems like there was absolutely nothing that any vet could have done to save it anyway. All the vet could do was put it to sleep as soon as possible. If these people really cared about the swan's suffering, they'd have done the job themselves with the edge of a spade.

Did it die?
Yes it did. Because it had two broken wings and even if a vet had attended to it it would have been put to sleep.

Plus we have bird flu on the island and all vets have been advised not to take wild birds into practice.

Exactly this!

Is it just the swans or all the Great British wild animals?
Whales, Dolphins and STURGEONS too!

It's absurd that swans get a special treatment, they're FUCKING MEAN!

It’s something from the 12th century I think when they used to be eaten at banquets, making them endangered. There are loads of redundant laws around though. There was once a requirement for all Taxi drivers to carry a bale of hay for their horse, and it was only actually removed in the 1970s.

Swans are absolute bastards. They’re aggressive, territorial, probably know how to operate firearms but just haven’t let us know that yet...

Just saying if I were the Portuguese police, I’d have been keeping a close eye on any that were spotted around Praia da Luz.
