Have I misunderstood, I thought it was the duty of the mods to deal with poster issues and the admin was more to do with all the behind the scenes stuff that keep the site up and ticking along?

Mods do cutting and pasting.
Admin own the structure of the board and ensure uptime.

Yeah it's a little more complex than that but in a nutshell.

"Poster issues" is quite a wide ranging term. In general, both the admin and mods act as a group to make decisions.

However, in some circumstances where individual posters are looking for discrete resolution to something then its usually best to talk to an admin because they're the only ones who can probably do something.

I'm always about collective responsibility in the main.

What I take from the above then is that decisions about “poster issues” are generally taken as a collective? So actually if a current mod gets the admin post then the site won’t necessarily change its approach to things anyway?

I think this should definitely have discussion again, and be a seperate, defined vote as well, rather than combined with another vote. It seemed that there was appetite for a third admin last time, but the voting system obscured it.

I stand by the concept of what we tried to achieve last time, but the way it worked was ultimately a bit flawed.

I've said my piece on this a number of times, i'll repeat again anyway. I don't think we need three admins. Octy resigned a few weeks ago - has there been any point in that time where anyone has raised anything that would have benefited from more admin? I've done Christmas names, changed the banner and created Dark Moopy in that time. None of these have taken up an awful lot of my time, and that's just on my own.

I'm not going to stand firmly against the option. If everyone thinks we need three, then that's what we'll have. I just don't want it to be a bit of 'for the sake of it'.

I remember this. Two is one and one is none. Yes it's all fine and fair if there are no issues, but having one more, should something go wrong, wouldn't hurt in the slightest
 
Just to defend that point: Yes, I went on holiday earlier this year, but I had my laptop with me and I was still regularly on Moopy. I even did POTW!

I can't think of a time over last year 10 years where two admin has been an understaffing issue. That's just where I am with it, but I'll happily put it to the vote.
 
I don't think the appetite for a third admin in any way speaks to a failing on your part, Indie. I just don't really see the harm in us having a third seat at the table?

Realistically, you shouldn't *have* to be checking in from your holidays. We're all entitled to a break. Adding a third admin would free you up to do that, if you so wished.
 
I would say to be admin we should have somebody who is fair to all and doesn’t have “favourites”. I personally would not like someone like VoR to be admin, and thinking of it even mod considering his aversion to me. If shit did ever hit the fan I don’t think he would look at things with an unbiased view. At least as mod he has others in the same position as him who would fight your corner but this needs to be a fair playing field for all.
 
I would say the same regarding Ag and his dislike for KindaCool. It just isn’t very fair, unless staff members have an open mind and look at every poster on an even keel.

I think I’m better served as a mod, to be honest. I’m crap at anything technical and Zen is a much better candidate than me.
 
I'm not sure it's an entirely technical role. It's just as much about keeping order.

I genuinely can't think of a single occasion in recent years where I've so much as had a meaningful interaction with Rita, let alone treated her unfairly in any way. Open to hearing about it though!

Realistically, anybody who gets nominated is going to have posters they gel with better than others. I think it's more important to demonstrate an ability to set that aside and take the high road when it comes to the important work of keeping the forum running and exercising duty of care for all posters. As a mod I've always tried to do that, and I can promise here and now that I would never use my additional abilities maliciously or to pursue any kind of personal vendetta - not that I even have any!
 
I have tried to interact with VoR on quite a few occasions since my return on the public forum ( DON’T ask for examples because I GAVE UP) so don’t you DARE make out like it is all in my head. If nothing else I am very perceptive.
 
I am not wanting to make a big song and dance about it but it is HIGHLY OBVIOUS VoR does not like me, and my initial point STILL STANDS. :)

Great poster, efficient at tidying the forum as a mod, but I have had quite enough jarring experiences with him as a mod, to support him as admin.

We just don't have very much in common and we barely move in the same Moopy circles at all. Doesn't mean I hate you! :D

I'm afraid I have to agree with Ag and Rita here - if there was ever a situation where the admins had to make any decisions about something I'd said or done on here, I really wouldn't be comfortable with VoR to be impartial given the run-ins we've had and what appears to be the long-standing dislike he has for me. In fact I'd go one further and say that I would seriously consider leaving Moopy if he became an admin.
