Here are your final candidates. There are two positions available, so you can vote for one or two candidates. You may vote for yourself.

The two candidates with the most votes will be elected as admin.

Right then. Since I've been mentioned by a few fabulous people who thoroughly deserve 11s in the next Moopyrate which will absolutely never happen if I have a say in it, I'll stand.

I intend to follow the Indie style of adminning - calm and rational. No rash decisions, no sudden deleting/banning etc without discussions. Look at both sides of any disagreements, even if I personally favour one...! And I promise I'll TRY not to turn tags back on when I'm drunk and the other admin aren't looking.

I am here pretty much constantly during the week, especially when I can't go out thanks to MS RONA. :gross:

Tech-wise, I don't know the ins and outs of the database stuff, but I am a programmer and work with data every day so I'd like to think I'd pick up the necessary bits quickly enough.
I think anybody mentioned so far would do a great job, but I'll also throw my hat in the ring.
I'm pretty sure I'm actually Moopy's longest serving non-admin mod (not that that should automatically count for anything), and I hope most people would agree that in terms of the moderating work I do I've always tried to be fair, balanced and non-invasive.

I've talked down my tech skills in past Admin discussions, but while I'm not a natural coder I do work with Content Management Systems a lot in my day job so I'm sure I could muddle through.
My manifesto.
  • Seasoned campaigner, despite my short time here. :eyes:
  • Good with Tech, currently dab a little with HTML with the day job as well as other light programming.
  • Quick to learn new platforms. For the stuff I don't already know how to do, I'll be able to pick it up quickly.
  • Find both of the above genuinely fun
And as a mod, I have already proven:
  • Able to make quick and reasoned decisions and communicate them well.
  • Approached issues on the forum in a balanced and fair way.
  • Have yet to publicly flounce, much to @COB’s chagrin.
And, as a newer Moopy member, I will of course help to sustain the revival and growth of the site through this year and beyond.

Oh and finally
  • Always has an appropriate Giraffe picture to hand.

Please vote by PM by 11.59pm on Friday, 15th January. Winners to be announced on Saturday.

These are three very, very good candidates ALL of which deserve to be admin so I feel it’s very, very ‘arsh that I can only vote for two!

You can vote for all three if you ABSOLUTELY MUST but it would be somewhat pointless.

VoR will lose, causing him to rile up all of his voters (Jark), who will attack Moopy Headquarters in Bristol.

I prefer The Bins, Hackney, London to Bristol, London personally.

Edit: oh I see it was edited.

Voted.

I'm also going to need at least one person to die in the riots otherwise I'm not going to get into the press, PM if you're up for it x

Cards on the table - the reaction to my throwing my hat into the ring for this really knocked me for six, in a way that I honestly didn’t think Moopy was capable of anymore. It really put me into a negative headspace these past few days, which hasn’t been the best.

With that in mind, at times I've been sorely tempted to claw back some dignity by withdrawing from the race. But I think it's important that we take personal responsibility for our behaviours, in life and on Moopy - and I can't very well preach that if I don't practice it myself here. So while it hasn't been a lot of fun, I am glad that it happened, and it's given me an opportunity to reflect on my behaviours and how they can come across. I sincerely hope that will make me a better poster, and also a better member of our administrative team in whatever capacity that looks like.

The things I said in my initial post still stand. I'm proud that I'm willing to stand up to people and be a voice for posters who themselves feel bullied or sidelined by the majority, even if I end up drawing ire on myself. I'll continue to call out bad behaviour when I see it, even when it doesn't affect me personally. Most importantly, I hope this experience has shown that I'm willing to listen and take a look at myself and embrace change and self-improvement, even when it's difficult. The Admin forum shouldn't be a closed group concerned only with maintaining the status quo, and at times I think that's how we've come across to the rest of the forum. Whether as a Mod or an Admin, that's something I'll continue to rail against.

To those who have felt belittled, or less welcome here because of things I've said or not said, I'm truly, unreservedly sorry. I hope we can build better relationships going forward. To everyone else, there really aren't any bad choices in this election, so vote with your hearts, and thank you for continuing to make this place such a lovely distraction from a horrible world.

Sincerely

Suomi VoR x

Who else is in the mod team nowadays? I feel like I need to know that before casting my vote.

I can’t believe we have such a thing as a ”notable members” list.

DON'T EVEN

From the votes so far, there's enough people that don't even want more than 2.

My opinion is that it just feels unnecessary when there’s just three candidates, and they all offer different perspectives and skillsets that would compliment the site.

I’m happy VoR hasn’t withdrawn. It would have been easy to have given up after what was said, but you’ve kept going. And that is great leadership.

Will there be an election to replace any mods who might become admins from this?
