Great band, I love Skin's voice & her image has always kicked ass :disco:

Solo singles "Trashed" & "Faithfulness" were both also very good.

The headline does lead with the bad news but:

I’ve arrived in Porto today and am seeing them here tomorrow as part of the trip. There’s a new album, ‘The Painful Truth’, in May.
 
I really want to like Skunk Anansie a lot more than I do. Skin is obviously unquestionably one of the coolest people alive.
 
Saw them at the Roundhouse last night. Skin is an incredible performer and the band excellent too. Really good show. They seem to have a very solid live following considering their post-reunion albums have not charted well at all.

I saw they've been doing You'll Follow Me Down as the last song but we got the first play of the next single, which seemed decent but not the way to round off a set really. Cheers has really grown on me though.
 


The album is solid and probably more varied than some of their previous offerings. I do think the production/mixing doesn't feel as full as it could be and there isn't that stand out song or two on there.

They do seem to be getting much wider exposure this time round though, compared to any other time post-reunion. Lots of press, positive reviews and the lead slot on Jools Holland last week.
 
Worth celebrating their number 7 chart placing I think, especially when their previous three studio albums all missed the top 40. The last album was 2016 so obviously different times but feels like they are getting their recognition this time around.
 
Yes, pleased for them, they consistently play to full houses across Europe and here so was always a bit surprising when they missed the mark in the past.

This album is a grower, doesn’t have highs to match some of their peak output but is a very solid body of work.
 
Less said about the Smashing Pumpkins. They were fine I suppose we got the hits, but I don't need a ten minute guitar solo. The crowd resorted to chatting on several occasions. Skunk Anansie should have headlined.

I’ve never really clicked with Smashing Pumpkins. 1979 is astonishing but nothing else has ever hit me where I want it to.
