I don’t even think there are any major spoilers for anyone who knows the show, other than the placing of the inevitable cameos.

The run time really flew by, and mostly it is just fleshing out the known scenes and songs from the show, rather than anything particularly extra. Even the orchestration is so similar, they’ve remained faithful to what we love.

Ariana really is EVERYTHING :disco: Just perfect. No notes.

And this is pretty much guaranteed the Oscar for Costume Design, you might as well give it to them right now.

I went to a subtitled screen with a deaf work colleague, she is obsessed with musicals and it was a cathartic, moving experience for both of us. We talked about going early this year when the date was announced. Truly spectacular, colourful, stunning etc.

Seeing it again on Sunday.

Oh my god. I went to the 2pm Tottenham Court Road Odeon screening, they played the adverts and trailers..the lights came on and someone sheepishly said from the door “we have technical issues so we are going to have to refund you all if you follow me now” to a room full of musical theatre gays and girls having 5 or 10 year reunion meet-ups to watch this together - holding £35 Wicked branded popcorn buckets and drinks :D I’ve never heard so much hysterics.

Anyway I stormed down to Leicester Square and insisted they put me and my bf in the Royal Box as compensation which worked out. As someone who has never seen the musical I thought it was great, however, I would have liked a bit more motivation and character for the Wizard and Michelle Yeoh’s character, like it seems like their whole plan was to give monkeys’ wings and that’s it?

Cackling at this.

Oh my god the music is so SOOO good. Not just the backing tracks, but the incidental music between songs added so much to the film. Especially what they pull from Act 2, it really adds to it if you already know the show.

Give Ariana EVERY award known to man.

Cynthia works so much better with the on set recordings than the studio recording they've done specifically for the soundtrack. Still the odd choice I wouldn't have made but entirely forgivable in the grand scheme of things.

The only major flaw is the COLOUR GRADING. This is OZ for fuck sake, you could turn up the saturation just a little!

They used Idina Menzel and Kristen Chenoweth so well in this. Their new bit was lots of fun, especially that they got to do little nods to the way they played the roles. That would have been so easy to make cringe but they managed to avoid it whilst still being a massive moment of fan service.

Oh and JONATHAN BAILEY TO DISGUSTIFY ME IMMEDIATELY please.

I saw this last night and was absolutely enthralled. It was sensational, Ariana is phenomenal, every aspect so well done.

I need to see it again.

My biggest ‘what the actual fuck is this’ came during the trailers and this Robbie Williams movie where he is a monkey instead of a human. Sorry what now?

As someone who had to sit through it twice, I'm still confused as to who, what, why and when. Who thought that would be a good idea?

Also the number of military recruitment adverts at the cinema, I wonder how many aspiring musical theatre students quit their courses and signed up for the Royal Navy yesterday.

Really really looking forward to seeing this - probably won't happen before 06 December cause EUROPE :zombie:

Was the line not in there about the monkeys being spies for rebellion animal activity? Maybe it wasn’t :o

I thought this was out NEXT week so I bought tickets for next Friday :Roxxxy:

Do we definitely think this will be proper huge? I'm not the biggest Wicked fan so could well be skewed, but I love a big musical film adaptation and here I'm struggling to get past how unappealing the lead casting is to me. Like, WHY ARE THEY A DECADE TOO OLD?

It's doing brilliantly so far, you stupid prick
