I see this has been anointed the latest breakout hit by the chattering classes (Exhibit A, Exhibit B) - is anyone else watching?

It's been a slow burn for me and only fully became a must watch in the most recent weeks, but I'm a fan. The story's fluff but it's hanging together well and I really like the lore being built. It's more horror in the comedy-horror, but I've had a handful of LOLs across the 9 eps.

Shout-out to the runtimes too. At 35-45 mins an ep it never outstays its welcome. Roll on Wednesday's finale!
 
Yep, I've been enjoying this one. I don't think it's AMAZING, but it's certainly fun in that 80s-esque, Stephen King, light horror kinda way.

I see it's been renewed for a second season, which has actually disappointed me in a way. I was hoping the story would wrap up nicely tomorrow and come to a proper end. But I know they can never do that anymore.
 
Defo have to spend time with the characters to get into it. I find the moments when they just go for the laugh quite endearing (the wine dribble spit for example). Also Matthew Rhys is just such a watchable actor. Hope they don’t drag it out for endless seasons though.
 
That's a good effort because it's quite slooooooow in places.
 
LOVED the finale

I loved the twist and didn’t see it coming, although I expected Ruth to casually reference that she’d had a child at some point.

The Ruth actress is 90 years old and played Superman’s mum in Lois and Clark :o:disco: Her scenes with Matthew Rhys were terrific.

The stuff in the shelter worked less well for me - it felt like they’d been there like two hours, why were they rioting and wouldn’t most of them bring food themselves? And I’d care more about pregnant police wife if she’d had more of a presence over the previous nine eps. Or even in this one.

I can already see green shoots of it becoming annoying in how it’s laid down more plot road to keep the mystery going without resolution, but right now I say BRING ON SEASON TWO. I’m really into all the characters now.
 
Really enjoyed the final - be really interesting to see how they develop this next season.
 
I didn't find it slow at all

Felt mostly in a sense of panic for a lot of it

Great finale though, though not much wrapped up so a second season makes sense and I need it now!
 
I’ve just started this on the back of all the Emmy nominations and it’s wonderful.

I’ve a soft spot anyway for that New England islander vibe (see also: Jaws) so to see it done in this very quirky way is a treat.
 
Finished this last night, really enjoyed it. It’s like adult Goosebumps, some hilarious lines and quite the stress watch in places. Struggle to see just how far they can stretch the premise without going west but for now I’m in

It was a slow burn for me to start, but once you lock into the characters its amazing - I love Matthew Rhys anyway - he was stella in The Americans - so that was an easy buy in. I really think it could be a classic show if they can keep it together. But yes - there is always that slight concern that things get flogged to death. I know this show was a long time in the development and making, so one hopes they have a fairly clear view of the world building and how it all has some kind of internal logic.
 
Didn’t help Yellowjackets… they had a five-season plan and it dropped off right after the first, but yes, hopeful optimist for Widows Bay
