Wordle (and friends)

Failed on Worldle this morning with no outlines, just the arrows, I learnt I have no concept of distance at all... I'm also bit confused by the flashing coloured boxes that come up after your guess. Do they mean anything at all?

I mean WHAT?!? I know you’re well travelled but HOW?!?

I've played games like this before (although not for about a decade) so I've got a reasonably decent memory of country outlines.

I'm not playing hard mode either.

Sort of like how close you were, but the cues you get to help you finding it are the kms and the arrows.

Doing it without outlines would surely require a lot more guesses and would be a different game (which Globle is doing much better).

Each box means 20%, of I assume half the circumference of the world, so 25% is a green and a yellow box.

(no I think I get that actually!)

As @RaspberrySwirl said I think I prefer Globle for that, as it's colour coded into warm and cold rather than just (to me) randomish numbers that don't mean much.

(E.g. my first guess was Guatemala which wasn't actually that far off, but it was 3000km away which I assumed was about half the world away!)

Grindr distances help a lot with that, for example I know Beirut is about 4000 km from Paris so 3000 km would still be in the same continent-ish

800km to Berlin (but also to Hamburg ) is basic Grindr knowledge.

We tend to think of distances from a north-south perspective, but it could be very wrong.

Did you know that the nearest part of continental North America to Africa is the coast of Maine? 🤓

Mildly hampered by not realising that I had the green in third place on the bottom left because it was off the bottom of my screen.
