World Cup 2022

Can't really tell if Spain is playing well or just Costa Rica being terrible, but so far so good :eyes:

There was not a single incident and they add 5 minutes? :D

I assume VAR has the day off with no Middle Eastern countries playing today :)

A quick Google says that Spain beat Germany 6-0 when they last met two years ago :D:o
WTF!? I thought Germany was one of the strongest teams, and I was wondering why the hell we were both in the same group, when all the strong teams like England or France are in groups filled with crap ones. What happened?

They’ve been crap since the last WC. They barely made it out of their group at the Euros last year.

They’re currently 11th in the world rankings.

England are in the toughest group in theory! There are 3 world ranked top 20 countries and one just outside. No other group has more than 2 top 20 ranked countries.

I just checked and Wales is there too, I take back what I said, din't want to offend anyone :D:shy: Is USA any good then? That surprises me but I actually haven't much idea.

They’re ranked 14th. But there are always issues with how world rankings are actually worked out to be taken into consideration too.

14th worldwide seems too high, so yes, surely some European countries go on ACR and get streams discounted to help the rest climb the chart :eyes:

6-0, the match didn't stop for a second and they add 8 minutes!!! :D Are they for real?

Given the DRUBBINGS of Iran and Costa Rica, I wonder if FIFA will be pressed to rethink the expansion to 48 countries taking part in 2026. Surely these one-sided games will become more common.

I had forgotten but I’m still so horny for Courtois/the Belgian goalkeeper. He looks so filthy. :horny:

Poor old Canada. If Belgium keep playing like that there’s no way they’re getting as far as the semis again.

Before this game (Germany vs Japan):

18 goals scored from open play
16 teams played a match
10 goals from open play scored by England or France (56%)

27 goals scored from open play
24 teams played a match
16 goals from open play scored by Spain, England or France (59%)

Nearly two-thirds of goals scored outside of penalties has been scored by just three teams out of 24.

Btw Japanese fans cleaning up after the match is something else. 😍

We absolutely do the same, in UK too I heard :)

Aren't 17? Not that I'm following this that much. Oh wait, you don't count penalties maybe.

Anyway those stats are insane.

Yeah, "open play" means not penalties. Quite a few goals outside of those three countries have been scored by penalty.

The Danish FA are proposing all UEFA members discuss leaving FIFA after being silenced over the One Love debacle. The Scandinavian nations have been discussing it since August.

I doubt it will come to anything but still…
