World Cup 2026 (1 Viewer)

The way that section of the draw becomes even more lopsided if Argentina do go out though :D

Colombia or Switzerland for the semis anyone?!

What another brilliant endorsement of the widening of the teams to 48. ITV talking about it now- you can get on the stage and you can properly give the biggest teams a run for their money.

Incredible.

I was gutted when I checked the results this morning - I fell asleep just after hearing Cape Verde had equalised and I briefly had hope...

Still, though, they've had a run for the ages so they can't be going home disappointed.

I will rarely say this, but I want France to win this match.

I've never seen a display of cheating cunts like Paraguay in this match

I do hate a game cracked open by a penalty. although this was a game in need of a goal

I agree, but I still want France to lose for the LOLs

FIFA are once again fucking with the rules to favour star players. The USA’s top player was sent off in their last match and so should have been banned for their next game, but they have decided that the ban should instead be suspended for a year and only come into force if he does it again. Complete joke of a governing body.

It’s almost like money is being offered under the table to bend the rules!

but Sheena says they're not fundamentally corrupt and that only X discourse could bring one to such a conclusion, so 😇

Oh sorry, so that GREAT AUTHORITY OF FOOTBALL @funky has said they’re corrupt so they are? OK… :D

Wait are you saying they’re NOT?

I’m not saying the decision is RIGHT, but apparently it’s because cash under the table cause you have an INSIDE LINE TO FIFA and Jark just couldn’t wait to LET ME KNOW… :disco:

why do you assume all of these blatantly corrupt decisions are not corruption? "it may be WRONG but it's not necessarily CORRUPT"... OK?

they literally fast tracked the usual process to decide who'd host in 2034 so that Saudi would go uncontested. nobody else put forward a bid to host. do you find that normal, or likely? that nobody actually wanted to host the World Cup other than the oil nation that doesn't give a flying fuck about football?

who knows if literal money was exchanged for the red card decision, probably not, but FIFA are very blatantly for sale to the highest bidder.

I repeat- you have zero evidence but it fits your narrative because you don’t like the decisions made.

The commentary at the time was saying it was a harsh decision, it obviously wasn’t intentional, the FIFA rules allow for the change. The disciplinary committee will be independent from FIFA, the same way the FIFA ethics committee is.

Do I think it was right? No, but, “OH!! THEY’RE CORRUPT!!” at everything you don’t agree with is just horseshit with nothing to back it up.

Also FIFA "Peace Prize "anyone..

Absolutely, but you think that wasn’t cause Trump sat there and kicked off and threatened to cause shit?

Notice he’s been pretty much silent during the tournament. There’s obviously some informal “peace” agreement in place. I accept that, but they were backed into a corner on THAT…

I am not saying I believe FIFA’s decisions are right (I often don’t!) but, let’s face it, I have (admittedly slightly) more knowledge than the layman about it and the crap in here about them wanting to “destroy the game at any cost” and “taking cash under the table” at everything people don’t like is fucking mental!

just some very normal White House lobbying. but FIFA and the independent committee came to this decision organically.

And there was another guardian article earlier today which was about how it was a fair decision because it was really unintentional and every single commentator was talking about that at the time, but don’t let that get in the way of things…

If the same thing happened to us, Downing Street would absolutely make a statement/plea/reach out.

And everyone would moan if they just ignored it :D

but this isn't an opinion piece. it's factual reporting about the WHITE HOUSE lobbying FIFA. which is not something that should be happening regardless of the merits or otherwise of the red card. you're saying this had no impact on the decision made?

I mean, the fact they threw South America THREE matches before moving the whole thing over to Iberia/Morocco in 2030 was BLATANT :D

I’ve got no idea, but as I said, every other country would do the same in the same situation, probably every commentator around would agree that it WASN’T intentional and it’s within the rules to overturn it. Are we now just dismissing every single person on that committee as incompetent or corrupt?
