World Cup 2026 (1 Viewer)

Is it too much to expect Belgium to beat Spain? :(
on recent evidence, why not? muscle memory might get Spain through but they look vulnerable. I'll be enjoying Trossard vs Merino anyhow.

Just about every African team has been excellent this world cup. England's biggest struggles have been against African teams. Senegal were unlucky to be out. Morocco cruising through the knockouts. Cape Verde holding Spain. Egypt now winning.

Those who are through deserve to be and a few that aren't are unlucky not to be there.

I will be extremely disappointed if Rodrigo De Paul is not nicknamed ‘Lynsey’.

But, did Donald Trump think it was a foul? We’ve very much established that that’s what matters.

unbelievable that they pulled it back from 0-2 on 78 mins! grrrrr.

What are you referring to here? The foul on Salah?

The unnecessary (yet mandatory) penalty for Messi, the disqualified goal for Egypt, then the foul for Salah and the penalty for Egypt that wasn't given. Its not just 'referee mistakes', its Fifa's decision to push Argentina to the end no matter what, Infantino tongue slip aside.

I only saw up to about 60 minutes so I didn't see the Egypt penalty claim, but I think the first two decisions you mentioned were perfectly reasonable. Yes, you could debate them but I don't think they were incorrect, nor a conspiracy.

What was I saying about everything being a conspiracy theory? :D

Why are you so defensive about this. Do you work for FIFA?

Not at all.

But it’s horseshit. You’re telling me a French referee, nominated by his European confederation and not actually FIFA remember, has been told to throw the match for a South American team and is happy to do so? And there will likely be another one doing the same later on, just to make sure Argentina get through? Oh, ignoring the fact that an African team going through is great for FIFA PR considering the amount of money they’re ploughing into those areas.

I repeat- I absolutely think there’s some bad decisions. But not everything is down to corrupt officials and conspiracy theories. Stop believing social media!

I'm not sure what's hard believing a 'conspiracy theory' about a giant greedy association that celebrates 'pride' but hands over hosting the world cup to rich homophobic counties with no football history whatsover, a president who just unashamedly bent red card rules to please his orange white house friend, and displayed favoritism through his own words and through 'referee mistakes' one after the other. Corruption scandals has been a staple for FIFA recently and their compass now is just where the money is.

The France v Paraguay game had some poor refereeing. The Argentina v Egypt game, not so much.

Well there is bad refeeeing and there is intentional bad refereeing. If you want Argentina in the finals you'll have Argentina in the finals. In gay terms if you want Ginger, Alyssa and Methyd to win a title, you'd have intentional bad refereeing as well. The entertainment industry works that way and clean cut competition is hardly a thing these days.

Yes but in no way were there any significant refereeing issues in this game.

'intentional bad refereeing" is a REACH.
