How come there is no talk of boycotting the 2026 World Cup? All the controversy over the Eurovision Song Contest in recent years, countries pulling out etc. Yet nobody seems to care that the US provide Israel with their weaponry? FIFA gave Trump a peace prize ffs. Is sport sacrosanct or something? Same with Qatar 2022. Harry Kane wore that rainbow armband to support us… until it impacted his game, then it went in the bin.

In essence I agree with all of this but it's the WORLD CUP and like Eurovision for some, tough to resist.

I'm absolutely not partaking this year. FIFA are the worst kind of scum and despite the recent Russia and Qatar megabungs, they seem to have outdone themselves with this one. Giving Trump a fake award was the final straw for me. No thanks.
 
We could really do without Spain or Portugal electing a fascist within the next four years.

I mean there deffos is plenty of talk about the World Cup, the obvious price gauging for seats, the blatant corruption, just how far removed from 'the people' it has become and a general lack of enthusiasm for it thanks to Infaantino sucking Trump off.

Can anyone explain why half my tiktok is about walking to stadiums (including Europeans expecting to walk to a stadium being an example of WHITE SUPREMACY)!?
 
I presume it's a mixture of the ludicrous charges they're doing for public transport/parking at the stadiums, mixed with the ludicrous rules they have in the US where you aren't actually allowed to walk to most stadiums because it counts as jaywalking, and it's one of those countries that thinks driving is so important compared to anyone who walks that it makes it illegal.
 
I've also just learned that FIFA set aside money to pay for additional transport, then scrapped the fund.

That seems WISE...
 
The thing is usually host countries tend to pay and do stuff like FREE TRANSPORT because they're keen to impress visitors! In contrast to this one, which is keen to wring every last penny and make a sucker out of literally everyone who attends.

It’s interesting to see just how much it’s being pushed here. I’ve only been out and about for a couple of hours but loads of mentions of “soccer” wherever you go.
 
If the USA and Iran both finish second in the groups (feels like there’s a decent chance) then they’ll play each other in the Round of 32. Imagine Iran knocking them out :disco::disco:
 
haven't the USMNT been somewhat garbage this whole time under Poch? only loosely following but it wouldn't be a huge shock.
