XMAS + Christmas (Fully Wrapped Edition) - XMAS #1!

That was a good perf, and my god she is looking even more stunning :disco:

Am I late to the party? I mean I don’t care for that song but I want to celebrate our queen winning Christmas!

Xmas 7K ahead in first look Mids for Xmas #1
I wonder how likely it is to hold on, let's hope that she does it!
So two years ago when Sam Ryder had the Amazon single, he started the week neck and neck with Wham! and ended up 6k copies behind. So if they make up the gap at the same rate, it’s going to be VERY close but it’s possible!

Sam and Kylie both had physical releases, although his Strictly perf wasn’t until Christmas Day so she has that slight edge too.

Plus the Christmas chart was on 22nd December that year whereas it’s on the 19th this year so maybe Last Christmas won’t quite have picked up momentum to the same extent yet.

Tomorrow should show more accurate figures - Amazon have potentially added data to the end of Saturday, but first look only includes Spotify from Friday, and Saturday and Sun will be big days for Wham on there. Plus with purchased copies likely being frontloaded for her I wouldn’t be too surprised if she is behind or just barely ahead come tomorrow.

Either way she should hopefully be a lock for a nice fat hit this week whatever the end result.

Sorry but how do I listen to this song? I can’t find it on Spotify.

Does Amazon music have a big share in the streaming market? I would have thought Spotify and Apple Music would have more leverage.

Also Amazon have just released the extended (quite good actually) and instrumental versions today. Obviously these will count as additional streams/sales

Not a huge share, but I think it's more the favourable playlist placement on Amazon devices that it benefits from here that she wouldn't have necessarily on another streaming service.

It's certainly not the case that "if only" she'd have gone with a Spotify-exclusive she'd be a shoe-in or anything.

I think Amazon have a disproportionately high impact over Xmas, as a lot of people listening are only wanting background Christmas songs and simply say ‘Alexa, play Xmas songs’ and Kylie will essentially come on there.

She’s still 7k ahead in the first full update, so she certainly has a chance, though I think Spotify are a day behind with reporting.

Anyone not streaming her around the clock, think about what you could have had.

I haven't noticed a Christian backlash against this song, which I expected

Maybe because it's had no actual impact in the real world

Surely even Christians have bigger fish to fry (on days of the week when that's permitted) than KYLIE SINGLES.

I like where this is going!

The extended version is quite fun. Can't say I'll bite for the instrumental though. Yet.

I read yesterday she had kept the lead with Wham only clawing back a few hundred. Whilst they are ahead on streaming obviously, she's doing much better on the downloads. Is this looking promising?
XMAS UP XMAS UP

Have Parlophone even bothered promoting this on their socials? Doing NADA as per.

XMAS UP XMAS UP

I would expect that Wham's streaming will peak over the weekend, so I think she might hold on. KYLIE UP!
