You said Sunday, now I drive alone past your street

I bought dog biscuits and an apple for the homeless man outside the supermarket tonight (he did have a dog).

and then this Dutch twink I'm talking to these days told me it's not necessary because shelters are free and admit dogs too.

when did everyone lose any sense of empathy? it pisses me off. it's fucking cold and I don't want a DOG to go HUNGRY. and I could see the guy was thankful. I despise this attitude of "someone else will deal with unsightly problems so don't waste your energy on it" that seems to be widely accepted as an OK way to view society and approach life.

Aawwww! I’m just watching Challenge Anneka and she’s got to build a soup kitchen for the homeless!
 
Thankfully, I haven’t seen a homeless person around here for ages. I haven’t really thought about that. I say thankfully, cause presumably they’re in hostels somewhere during this horrible business. Hmm...

I know that many homeless people have been given rooms in places like Travelodge while we’re going through the pandemic.

Indeed, it happened the first time around here but I haven’t heard anything this time around.
 
The two homeless people outside my office who’ve lived on that street for 20 years went away last year and never came back :(
 
I pass by dozens of homeless people every day :( Its very sad

20 years living on the street? You wonder how that is even possible. My heart always goes out to them, and I always offer to feed them or buy them something warm. Unfortunately, I would never hand them money these days, as I rarely carry it and I wouldn’t know what on earth some would be spending it on.
 
When I was living in the city centre and used to walk to/from work late at night i’d always see lots of homeless people. I felt quite powerless because we’re not allowed to carry cash with us at work so I couldn’t give any of them some change/a coffee, snack etc :(

I really should start going and buying them a few bits in Tesco etc when the arena reopens, but all the express/24hr shops rarely have any ready to go hot drinks/food etc so I never know what to get.

I've seen people on the subway who were collecting money while giving out sandwiches to homeless people (so they could buy in bulk and make more for cheaper) and I thought that was very cool

I passed the second highest (of 5) exams, which APPARENTLY means I could work in a Japanese company as if I was a Japanese person. Not totally convinced of that myself but still!
 
Will you ever be able to become a citizen or will you always be an expat? What’s Japan’s immigration law like.

I can’t become a citizen (at least not without renouncing my British nationality, they don’t share), but it’s possible to get a permanent resident visa. After 10 years I think

the foreseeable future is a more realistic way of saying it, I don’t have any special desire to move back (except dreaded Moopmeets)
