I need to listen to the new album a bit more before committing but overall I feel like my favourite song is ‘Nothing Can Compare’

However, I’ve only really properly listened to the stuff since the the I Tance EP onwards. I have the album with Release Me on it and wasn’t that keen. Is her other earlier stuff worth a listen?

There's little moments...but generally nothing prior to Dance Love Pop is worth it. But that album is MARVELLOUS

We don't talk about Veritas much any more, but I really enjoy that album. A nice bridge between her poppy Release Me era and her subsequent transition into aloof club queen.

One More Time and All I Want Is You are top tier Agnes, and I'm particularly partial to the utterly ludicrous LOADED.

Yeah, Veritas is really good. It lacks the real highs, but Walk Out Of Here I like a lot.

Also for completeness, there's some good stuff on the half Greatest Hits/ half "new" stuff, "Collection", which was culled from her appearance on Swedish TV show Så mycket bättre (So much better), where famous Swedish acts cover other Swedish people's acts over a series.

Of the new ones, I can see Lovesongs and Trigger making it in as well but I need to live with them a little longer. It's quite Dance Love Pop heavy (the remix of Big Blue Wall and Secret Love would be just outside as well). Veritas strangely hasn't aged all that well for me.

Talking of Big Blue Wall, the spin of Dance Love Pop yesterday included the ballad version, which I loved at the time, but now I've sat with the dance mix all these years, it sounded like a complete DIRGE.

I also didn't realise until recently there were other, proper remixes commissioned, though I don't think it was released anywhere. This one criminally dumbs down the gospelly crescendo bit, which is obviously the greatest moment in recorded history.

The original Dance Love Pop album has some real duds on there, but they kept adding to it and remixing things while she was breaking through in various territories and what was left at the end was an absolutely top tier dance (love) pop collection with a cohesive sound.

I'm glad Agnes has successfully reinvented herself as an ice-cold clubland diva, and I do really like the new album. But I think her poppier stuff from Dance Love Pop through Veritas will always have a slightly warmer place in my heart. It's just more my vibe.

I think there's place for both- I absolutely adore Dance Love Pop, but also the more recent stuff. I agree the maturity that has come post I Trance has seen her into the complete package.

And whilst there are moments of ice cold, that's far from "it"...

Same. I assume(d) her very early material would be the sort of Noughties pop which very much isn’t for me.

I know I've said it THREE HUNDRED AND FORTY THREE THOUSAND TIMES BEFORE, but I still fail to see how they stuffed up the release of this so royally and, by proxy, Agnes' career in the UK when they'd just had a fucking UBER TOP THREE HIT. Following up Release Me with the fairly weak I Need You Now to hold back On and On for the third single was SO FUCKING STUPID. It meant all momentum was gone.

It's the same trick that was tried with Robyn's With Every Heartbeat - Handle Me - Be Mine! trio and that meant the third song didn't get half the attention it deserved.
