Old TOTP (BBC4) (1 Viewer)

Uncomfortable to hear Fairytale of New York outside of the week before Christmas.

Facts I've just discovered about Shane MacGowan:

He began drinking when he was 5.
He can no longer walk.
He had no teeth between 2008 and 2015.

Catching up on the last few episodes- how did I never notice The Cure’s “Just Like Heaven” and “Friday I’m In Love” are EXACTLY THE SAME SONG?

I’d also forgotten that curious era where people would have hits with the same songs at the same time like the 60s...looking at you Steve Walsh/ Fatback Band, Amazulu/ Billy Idol

And can I just add at the “You Win Again” stage of their career, the Bee Gees were only:

41 (Barry)
37 (Robin, Maurice)

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?

Mr Sheena has just called Carol Decker “The singing wig”, which I found appropriate...

Mini Pops and the Great Ormond Street Hospital all making thrilling debuts.

Mr Climie Fisher isn't as fit as he thinks he is.

Si looked properly off his tits to me. I don't know what he thought he was doing with that jacket.

I had quite forgotten about it but I do like House Arrest.

Be worried. Tonight is a 60s TOTP and tomorrow a Wham! special. Where's 1988?

:D I don’t recall Mini Pops appearing on TOTP, although I obviously do remember their squalid little show on ITV. Pass me that box of man-size tissues would you Harold :horny:

They're just at roughly the same pace, apart from that it's just the guitar sounds really.

For such a recognised classic "Just Like Heaven" did fuck all in the charts.

Aye, poor sod's been in a wheelchair for the last 3 or 4 years.

The usual big hits and story of programmes for 1988 are on later tomorrow night. Presume the repeats commence next week.

Cutting Crew had a second hit? Well, I'd driven that from my mind. That said, listening to the song, I doubt that needed a whole lot of effort.

One of McCartney's most insipid efforts here and fuck Nigel Kennedy with a hairy cactus while we're here.

Why is Mike Read dressed as Roy Orbison?

Oh fuck off Wet Wet Wet in your awful 80's suits for your awful 80's ballad. Shitehawks.

Why does Madonna bury "The Look Of Love"? Maybe, given that she didn't make a proper video for it, she was never that keen?

I have a vague memory of watching this episode at a friend's house.

Also; two different people having to mime the same sample on the same show. "I KNOW YOU GONNA DIIIIG THIS". Hmm.

Gawd, for the first time I've actually caught up. I might as well leave Moopy now.
