EastEnders down 70%
Coronation Street down 57%
Emmerdale down 39%
 
Interestingly BARB also quote the 28 day total as well as the 7 day one the usual weekly chart I post uses. But EastEnders only added 220k in that window. Coronation Street and Emmerdale gain even less; 130k and 100k respectively.
 
Emmerdale really has done terrifically well to position themselves as the second most watched soap. Consistently now for a number of years, as well.

I suppose as they are consistently in the Top 10 most watched tv programmes they are still considered a considerable success even though the figures have dropped so much.

I imagine they are still at least relatively successful. I think it probably does show that soap operas just aren't as successful as they used to be, though.

In the case of Coronation Street I imagine some od their fans are literally dying off. For EastEnders, I wonder if they are more likely to succumb to the rise of Netflix/YouTube etc, as they surely have a younger audience than Corrie.

As Slave says, Emmerdale must be seen as a relative success.
 
Are soap operas not as popular due to the amount of channels now available though? For them to keep making the Top 10 week on week no matter how low the figures are, it must simply show figures are well down on all terrestrial tv channels.
 
I'm sure that's a significant part of the reason. But other shows like Countryfile and Antiques Roadshow haven't suffered to the same degree.

Really impressive for Love Island - it’s outranking shows on the main channel in the same/similar time slot.
 
Killing Eve had nearly 4.2m of that 6.624m total from time shift viewing. That's nearly twice as many as the next highest show on time shift - Gentleman Jack with just under 2.2m
 
Do they still just dump the whole of Killing Eve onto iPlayer at once?

I believe so.

So that must make it interesting in terms of viewing figures going forward - because this chart includes figures from the day of TV broadcast and for the next 7 days. Presumably therefore people watching an episode in advance of broadcast won't count. Although obviously they will be revealed at some point.
 
Yes iplayer has all 8 episodes of Killing Eve on there - and they are advertising the box set quite heavily
Wasn't it on BBC2 last year?

Yes, I did wonder how they'd factor that as I saw several episodes were screened over the weekend.

I'm glad that the BBC is experimenting with the Netflix model of releasing series' as a whole, but I can imagine it makes TV ratings a bit of a nightmare.

Not as much of a nightmare as working out the charts, though :D
 
I have no interest in The Voice Kids whatsoever. So close to the adult series too.

OVERKILL.

Surely that Killing Eve slump has to be in no small part due to people watching ahead on iplayer.
 
Women's football going top 20 surely has to be a victory for the sport and lesbians everywhere.
 
I think the coverage that the World Cup has received is fantastic - I've really enjoyed watching the matches and I can only imagine the profile of the sport will grow from here.

Peak audience of 6.9m. I believe the chart I copy and post here uses average though, so we'll see...
 
I wonder whether the quarter final will stay consistent or improve - 8pm on a Thursday seems like a relatively good slot.
