Glastonbury 2019 final line up (1 Viewer)

But it wasn’t THAT much. I mean, Sheryl Crow threw in a few “non-hits” in a section and that seemed much longer as it was whole songs.

Sheryl was great but certainly front and backloaded her set. That good old days song seemed to never end, if the rest of her duets album is the same hoary old nonsense she can keep it.

Neneh could have done with chucking in Buddy X (and doing Buffalo Stance properly) but she did more of the hits than I thought she would. She looked absolutely fantastic.

In what way was Janet’s set not designed for fair weather fans? Yes, Together Again was a misstep and arguably When I Think of You, but it was basically wall to wall hits bar the opener, R&B Junkie, Rock With You and Throb, which you could argue a case for anyway.

I can’t see what else was missed which would be “important” to a UK audience. Well, bar Whoops Now maybe, but I think anyone can see why she didn’t bother with THAT...

I remember thinking Mary J Blige somewhat misjudged her set last year as well, in terms of missing crowd pleasing UK hits in favour of songs that were presumably bigger in America.

Yeah, I saw her at Glastonbury a few years ago and whilst there weren’t many GLARING omissions, like Janet, it was quite an Americanised setlist.

For a festival, you’d generally expects acts to close with something that the crowd will leave singing. Mary didn’t do that and neither did Janet - and in that environment I think you have to go BASIC.

Janet was never likely to close with ‘All For You’ or ‘The Best Things In Life Are Free’ but they would make much more sense in that context than what she did.

Just watch Kylie close with ‘Slow’ now :D

Thing is, Janet is on a long term US show. So of course she’ll just “lift” the show from there. It’s not like Sheryl who can just pick up a guitar and play- Janet isn’t a musician and the whole show including choreography and dance needs to be done...

Add in other not well known songs: Come On Get Up, State of The World and The Knowledge.

Ideally she could have had a special guest to duet with for The Best Things In Life Are Free in full.

True. The latter two were part of the whole political statement thing, though.

I forgot entirely about “Come On Get Up” even being in it. How many songs did she actually do?!

I quite enjoyed the set to be honest. Though I did spend most of the time thinking she must be awfully hot in that outfit in those temperatures doing all that moving about. I also got distracted that one of the dancers was a bit larger and that it was quite a demanding routine for her. I’m easily distracted.

I feel like Bananarama should be upgraded to being a pre Kylie act.

The outfit was SUCH a misstep.

It’s a shame the Nanas couldn’t get on the Beeb...

Has P!nk ever done Glastonbury?

Watching Carrie Underwood's set makes me think Kelly Clarkson would probably be a decent booking too. I like that they're making more of an effort to book female acts in the big slots.

P!nk would be amazing. Like I said about The Killers, I’m sick of the same rock bands headlining more than once in the space of 10 years.

Shakespear’s Sister, Skunk Anansie and Beyoncé are the only female/female led acts I can remember headlining Glastonbury until now. I’m sure I must’ve missed someone.

P!nk would presumably know and appreciate what Glastonbury is as well. I'm not sure a lot of the big American bookings particularly realise what they've signed up for.

Dolly obviously totally got it, which was fabulous.

Kylie would have been the first solo act in 2005, no?

So what’s the difference with Coachella which they all like to talk about? It comes across as a bit elitist and glamorous.

Coachella is now NOTHING about music and all about Vanessa Hudgens doing spon con for Amazon lockers.

I remember Jessie Ware saying she absolutely hated it, it’s the worst place for an artist to sing because it’s in the middle of a desert and you’re constantly inhaling mouthfuls of dust.

I’ve just been catching up today. I don’t see how Janet’s performance didn’t go down well? Every time it cut to the crowd it was just the usual people dancing, sitting on each other’s shoulders and getting off their tits?

Her whispering in to the mic is nothing but an ABSOLUTE NONSENSE, however. Is she trying to cater for DOGS?

I CANT FUCKING HEAR YOU LOVE.

I just watched Liam Gallagher and am really not keen on any of his new music. The old Oasis classics still sound great (if they were sang by someone else I suspect?).

Lizzo is GORGEOUS isn’t she? What amazing energy she has too. Even if I could see what she had for breakfast.

So apparently 'Together Again' WAS on Janet's setlist, but had to be pulled at the last minute due to tech problems.

Did the Pet Shop Boys only perform with The Killers or did they have their own set?

No, they didn’t! It was marvellous!

Her raspy voice on Wrecking Ball really is something...

Nothing will beat me going for a pee at the urinal next to the stage as she performed Wrecking Ball at Primavera.

A true MOMENT

Friendly Fires on right now :disco:

This festival has been so incredible. The BBC coverage has been outstanding - any Tory who moans about the license fee needs to DO ONE.
