Extinction Rebellion are in town today - gonna pop out at lunch time, see if there's anything going down.
And here. It's all week, I think. Three days a week I have to cut across the city centre, so it's potentially quite a ballache for me. Still, I guess that's kind of the point.
I spent most of yesterday evening answer questions vailing ridicule about my choice to cut out meat for environmental reasons. At a family bbq, while everyone was eating meat but me.
At the weekend, we had a BBQ on the beach and I threw my No-Bull burgers on after meat had been cooked. "OH YOU'RE EATING MEAT JUICES! YOU'RE NOT A REAL VEGETARIAN! YOU'LL NEVER GIVE UP PROPER GRAVY, I KNOW YOU!" etc. etc. People literally falling over themselves to have a pop. <snip> I'm not sure at what point the joyful "glee" of trying to see me supposedly "fail" at something dissipates...
The former there are plenty of substitutes now

Yes, I think it's exactly this. You 'failing' proves it can't be done and therefore legitimises their choice to continue eating meat, which is ever increasingly unjustifiable.I think it's partly because how increasingly difficult it is to justify meat-eating, given everything we now know. People want it to be impossible. They want others to fail because it allows them to carry on as they are; "See? It can't be done, I TOLD you it couldn't be done, now find me a cow, clean its ears, wipe its arse and get it on the BBQ". Or words to that effect.
Is that the one that is supposedly an alternative to pulled pork? I had it once. Didn't dislike it, but wouldn't search it out either.

Oh I like Jack fruit just as a normal fruit![]()
Thank you! My friend took me on a day out to Ayr, but it was full of bastards from Glasgow with screaming kids - it's the thought that counts thoughHappy birthday @COB-alicious <3
