Went to London for some BUSINESS based stuff Friday, ended up getting totally off my tits. Now dying. Pls help.

I’ve just booked pretty much all my annual leave off for the next year. And it’s making me anxious.

Extinction Rebellion are in town today - gonna pop out at lunch time, see if there's anything going down.

And here. It's all week, I think. Three days a week I have to cut across the city centre, so it's potentially quite a ballache for me. Still, I guess that's kind of the point.

Well, I note they have grafittied the bridge I need to cross on my way home - hopefully that means they've been and gone from that bit...

I spent most of yesterday evening answer questions vailing ridicule about my choice to cut out meat for environmental reasons. At a family bbq, while everyone was eating meat but me.

I've never felt more like a yoghurt basket weaving hippy

What I don't understand is why this poses such a problem for people. So, I generally take the piss out of myself and make a mockery of the whole annoying vegan thing with a lot of "Did you not know I was a vegetarian, have I not mentioned it?", but still I get people finding the whole thing hilarious, ridiculous and, for some bizarre reason, trying to "catch me out" as being a meat eater. At the weekend, we had a BBQ on the beach and I threw my No-Bull burgers on after meat had been cooked. "OH YOU'RE EATING MEAT JUICES! YOU'RE NOT A REAL VEGETARIAN! YOU'LL NEVER GIVE UP PROPER GRAVY, I KNOW YOU!" etc. etc. People literally falling over themselves to have a pop.

It's really odd. I've always said I'm sure I will occasionally eat meat, but it's now at nearly 5 months and I've eaten meat 4 times in total, which I'm entirely ok with. I'm not sure at what point the joyful "glee" of trying to see me supposedly "fail" at something dissipates...

At the airport in Portugal last week, by the way, was one of those four times, and I was hungover, there was a Burger King or Subway, I fucking hate the latter, so I went balls deep and had a Double Angus Bacon and Pepper Cheese burger and chicken wings. I loved every fucking delicious morsel of it, but by god, I felt rubbish afterwards. I was kind of pleased in a weird way that I've reached that point, though.

I still get the odd ridicule from people about being vegetarian, and I really do not understand why it's an issue for them. I don't give a fuck if anyone else eats meat or not, it's just as much their choice to eat it if they want to as it is mine not to. If someone asks me why I do not eat meat then I tell them it's for ethical decisions but I don't go into it. I don't want to be one of those militant ones.

Having said that, I'm now actually leaning more towards veganism. At least cutting out milk and cheese. The former there are plenty of substitutes now, and the latter I adore but is so bad for me and doesn't really agree with me anyway. What is very difficult though is when eating out, and also there's milk and egg to be found in so many products these days. At least with being vegetarian 9/10 it is mentioned on the product label, in the UK at least. I don't think this is the case in most other countries. Anyway, I know that is just an excuse.

I think it's partly because how increasingly difficult it is to justify meat-eating, given everything we now know. People want it to be impossible. They want others to fail because it allows them to carry on as they are; "See? It can't be done, I TOLD you it couldn't be done, now find me a cow, clean its ears, wipe its arse and get it on the BBQ". Or words to that effect.

I would never question anything anyone is eating at a BBQ or anywhere else for that matter. I am not a vegetarian, but have always preferred a veggie burger to a beef burger. It is getting highly monotonous that both vegetarians and meat eaters alike love to comment on what is on someone else’s plate. You are not eating it, so keep your opinions to yourself, thank you.

Extinction Rebellion were too far away from my office to go down for a look at lunchtime. Shame, I quite fancy having a nosey and maybe a sit-down and join in for a bit.

I've decided that vegan cheese is deliberately awful. It's aversion therapy - and it works...all my recent experience of cheese has now been so brutal that I'm fast going off the concept.

Yes, I think it's exactly this. You 'failing' proves it can't be done and therefore legitimises their choice to continue eating meat, which is ever increasingly unjustifiable.

I tell you what I've decided I CAN'T be doing with this evening is JACKFRUIT. What a SILLY LOT OF NONSENSE that is.

Is that the one that is supposedly an alternative to pulled pork? I had it once. Didn't dislike it, but wouldn't search it out either.

Supposedly. Fuck all like it and it has a weird fruity tang in every savoury dish it’s used in. I don’t detest it either but fuck off is it the saviour of veganism or whatever everyone was banging on about a little while ago.

I feel proper ropey today. Fatigue, aches and pains, dehydrated, sore mouth. Weird cold without all the snot.

Happy Birthday
