Yes well we don’t have the same penchant for plastic surgery as they do in the US. I think out of all the queens, The Vivienne is the only one who has had anything done. In the US, it’s pretty much every seasoned queen.

I’m not getting on the defensive, at all! Although I suppose it is quite natural to support your own nation.

The basic difference is that looks are way more secondary to British drag queens than US ones. Pretty much all of those who have a career are performers. They’re all DJs in bars, host quizzes, karaoke, and most of them sing live. You do get lip syncing too but it’s all based on comedy. Dressing up as nuns to do Sister Act, being off your tits on stage as Amy Winehouse - I’ve even seen one queen dress up as Whitney pretending to snorting coke.

The costumes are mostly cheap as fuck things as they are very much secondary to the whole performance.

I was quite pissed when I eventually watched this but vaguely remember thinking scaredy kats looks we’re pretty good and her picked for top 3.

I don't know. I've never read if an iPlayer only show is eligible for the chart or not. If it does well, I'm sure the BBC will tweet the viewing figures, though.
 
It's really interesting. Looking at reactions online, Scaredy Kat is one of the most popular with the non British fans.

The jury's out for me with her. Her looks are good but I'm not convinced she can hold her ground with the others when it comes to everything else. It is obvious that she follows the US scene and has no knowledge of the UK one. I'm interested to see how it goes...

Gothy is pretty fantastic on Instagram to be honest, but she is so typical of that generation. That kinda thing ain't gonna work on a UK version show.
 
Okay everyone's being too positive for my liking so let's admit it: the main challenge was shit.
 
The lip sync was cack as well. Who'd choose New Rules for a lip sync. I did lol when vinegar jiggled her tits though. I don't think Gothy had ever danced before.

This was the first Drag Race of any kind that I’ve watched. If I’m honest I didn’t really like it that much. It felt rushed and messy but I will stick with it.
 
The lip sync was shockingly bad, but the challenge I thought was fine. It was a copy of S9 first episode challenge (Gaga and Hometown).
 
What exactly is so "fantastic" about Gothy? She's as disposable as they come. The "Gothy Ken Doll, Gothy Ken Doll" thing she did was really cringe

Even when the main challenge and the lip sync were really weak, I loved this. I didn't get every joke/reference, but I got so many more than in the US version, and that helps. Probably is just the excitement of a European series, but I found the queens funnier and more "real".
 
Gothy's runway spoke to me on so many levels.

She put about as much effort in to her runway as I do on a Monday morning. :disco:

Apparently there is a cash prize (10k I think) but they just can't talk about it on the BEEB
