ooh i went to a chippy on Saturday for the first time in aaaages.

I'm not that bothered by a mound of stodgy chips so i just had a jumbo fish.

(well, i say i had a jumbo fish, they didn't have any. I had two fish)

There's a chippy near me that does pickled onion rings But their chips are DISAPPOINTING.

I feel I need to ask: are they onion rings that have been pickled, or onion rings made from pickled onions?

I had a Japanese attempt at fish and chips a few days ago. The fish were quite little ones (maybe the size of a Caramac) and just tasted of tempura. And the chips were unforgivably just potato wedges

The latter. So greasy crispy batter on the outside, vinegary onion inside. LOVELY.
