My husband has been sick since yesterday. He just went to the GP who shoved him in quarantine and wouldn’t touch him based on his symptoms and told him he probably has corona virus

Comes back some half hour later to say he sought advice (Phoning 111) and he’s not at risk and gave him some antibiotics instead and told him to stay home

drama!!

Coronavirus risk upgraded to "very high" by World Health Organization.

Is this just media hysteria or are things really bad?

I think things are really bad. WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!

Our school has been cancelled for a week and they're telling us they'll decide on next week over the weekend. I'm flying back to Milan tomorrow unless told otherwise.

Praying for half term break number three.

I really quite fancy QUARANTINE.

I hope someone on my flight this weekend has it, albeit up the back in the cheaper seats.

I can’t help thinking that the timing fits Greta’s “STOP FLYING!” Timeline rather well

Just can’t believe the gay hate. And after all those compliments I made (well, ONE) about him almost certainly having a nice thick one :(

I wouldn’t mind having a year off. Quarantine now please

It shows you how fragile our world economy is when one flu-bug could fell the whole damn thing.

Late stage capitalism. People stop buying new iPhones for a couple of weeks because they're made in China, maybe cancel the odd cruise, and we face another possible recession and decade or so of consequences :(

IMHO there's a lot of the former but they're doing this to kick governments up the arse so they can prepare hospitals, take quarantine seriously etc because (like with climate change which has been warned about for *decades*) otherwise they just sit with their fingers up them doing nothing. Once governments are told THE WORLD IS ON FIRE AND WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE IF YOU DON'T PULL YOUR FINGERS OUT NOW, they start to at least think about some sort of preparedness so that what does happen (which won't be THAT bad) won't be as bad as what it would otherwise be.

The media of course love a good panic. While we've got the BBC, they're probably the most level headed news source we're going to get.

The downside of the PLEASE PANIC approach is so does the general population, and I think the economic impact will probably lead to more deaths than the virus (because if there's another recession on the back of it it'll trigger more austerity, funding cuts to the NHS, people being abandoned by the DWP, more poverty etc)

Ah the conspiracy stuff - if it's not that it's "China let a bioweapon get out of hand", the always reliable "MUST BE RUSSIA", some random moustache-twirling Bond villain etc. :D

"Sure, let's use a weapon that can spread anywhere and shut down most of the world economically - can't possibly affect us too, what could possibly go wrong?"

Dear Ms Kate,
We want to let you know that we’re experiencing exceptionally high demand at the moment. More people than usual seem to be placing particularly large orders. As a result, delivery slots are selling out quicker than expected.
We suggest following these useful tips to avoid any disappointment:
• Place your order a little further in advance than you might normally. Ideally, try two or three days before.
• If you can be flexible, book yourself a weekday delivery (Monday–Thursday) instead of a weekend one. We’re unusually busy Friday to Saturday at the moment.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Quarantine is just a fancy, more dramatic name for being alone in your apartment because you don’t have any work.

I'm in quarantine :disco:

I've just come home from a week in Florence, including a trip to Bologna

I could really do with 14 days quarantine to be honest...

With that being said I don’t want to sound flippant when it comes to the real victims of this tragedy, let’s all please pray for Kate’s Ocado delivery.

It’s fine, I already pay for a weekly spot :) Thoughts and prayers for those who don’t. :(
