475 deaths in Italy overnight. The previous daily record (for all countries, set there) was 368. That's insane. 2978 deaths there in total now so it will overtake China in 24 hours (3237).

So children of key workers still have to go to school? How does that work then? Gather them all up from the same borough even though they may be doing different classes?
 
Not at full isolation yet. But I reckon we're days away judging by what Boris just said.
 
This is probably a stupid question but hey, I will ask it anyway. If this can be caught through breathing if the person handling our food had corona virus but was not showing symptoms but has breathed on the product does that then make it contaminated?

There isn't much evidence it can be transmitted on food, but on plastics and metals it can live for 24-72 hours I think
 
I've seen quite a lot of spurious evidence we're going into full lockdown tomorrow. Images of army being deployed, screenshots of emails from people in the know etc. Nothing concrete but it all seems to be going that way.

The answer is yes. The virus doesn't survive there forever, so it eventually dies, but still unsure for how long.

They will go on predicted grades. That's IF they have a university intake, if they're back to normal by then. Unless they decide to do it all online. If they can manage that then they could really do most courses by distance learning. The Open University have managed for years successfully, and having studied with them, their course material is among the best.
 
I've heard all leave from the army has been cancelled for the next 2 months in order to use them to enforce the lockdown.
 
The thing is, when you go to the supermarket make sure to wear gloves all time, and do not touch your face. Yes, the virus could be on anything you buy, so make sure you wash your hands when you manipulate your shopping, do not lick the tins or anything that is common sense. There's no way to be 100% safe, because they even say you can bring the virus home in you shoes, so I left them at the door this morning. But you just have to minimise the risk as much as possible.

what i've heard is it can survive on carboard for 24 hours and up to 72 hours on plastic and stainless steel so it can probably survive on food for a while.

uk now tenth in reported cases.
us eighth with a bullet - i see them overtaking france and possibly south korea tomorrow.
if counted as a country, new york would be in 11th place just behind the uk.
 
My flights that are booked next week seem to be the only ones in the WORLD not to be cancelled.

My insurance won't pay out on them so I really need the airline to cancel them to get a refund. I can re-arrange the flights for later in the year free of charge, but then there's no guarantee the airline will still be in business in 6 months.
 
Second banana loaf that I'm baking in 5 days, I'm going to be fat as f*ck when I leave the flat. :zombie: I'm gonna do some serious exercises from tomorrow, I even have some weights so I should.
