Morning.

My brain's just not getting this "stay at home" thing. It's Sunday morning so I did my usual shopping list (after getting my gingerbread and vanilla cupcake recipes out) then realised I can't go shopping :D

I think I'm going to have to leave the house for the first time since Thursday evening to go shopping for my mum. If I don't, she will.

I'm glad of the daily thread to keep track of the day. I think it's because I started self-isolation on Thursday afternoon...in my head Friday was Saturday and so on...

In terms of work it's no different. I only work Mon - Thurs anyway. But the not going out really fucks things up.

Properly dreading work tomorrow.

I know, I'm already anxious about being back in the office on Friday, even tho' it's for one day and then I'm off over the weekend.

Apparently we can dress down as of tomorrow, and I've already checked that jogging pants will be acceptable attire.

I can't quite work out why we're still allowing members of the public to wander in as they please - especially when one on Friday told us he was supposed to be in isolation because he had the symptoms...

Most of the nurses and GPs I'm working with are now in scrubs.

I'm quite enjoying it all so far but I can feel some madness creeping in, and I know Ms Ron is going to have a breakdown if she can't go to work.

Ron be a love and nip to the shop and get me 40 cigs please. The most we are allowed here is 2 packets at a time. I’m not quite fit for driving yet, and am tempted to open the prosecco and jump in the hot tub.

God I'm so glad I stopped smoking just before all this! I imagine I would've had nothing else to do at home.

I haven’t really increased my smoking YET. I like to run so I think smoking anymore than the usual 5 a day would put paid to that.

Morning.

Got up at 7 and went for a lovely walk along the beach before anyone else was there. Been shopping for Mum (AGAIN) and now staying in for the rest of the day. It’s killing me when the weather is as glorious as this, but I guess we’ve got the balcony and the view at least...

As long as the weather is ok I’m planning to go for a walk every day. I can’t stay in all day.

I trust you were allowed to tell this cretin to fuck off...

Tell you what, this has been a good opportunity to get some of the box sets out that have been lesser travelled. I have a *lot* of jazz box sets that can be tough going due to usually being comprised of live sets performed on consecutive days or of studio outtakes but I've picked out a couple to get right into.

I had to take a prescription to the pharmacy for a patient to collect, even though he told me he had symptoms, and I told him he should be self isolating and not leaving the house.

My son asked me to set up a bookies account so he could gain the rewards and put some bets on the horseracing. Er, NO.

Smoking is bad for you.

Have planted out some onions, beetroot and potatoes, seeing as I am time rich I'm going to set things out in stages so we don't suddenly have shit loads of stuff at want. Now baking bread. Any more wholesome and I might have to start doing cross-stitch.

That said I have an overwhelming urge to do a large dose of psychedelics at the minute. Maybe my brain is craving some sort of clarity/reset/insanity

People's reactions to this crisis have been FASCINATING. I wish I'd recorded them. The immediate priorities of everyone is very telling.

It’s OK darling, you took so long to answer I sobered up and went myself. I think I might go for that takeaway tonight as I have not prepared anything and have started on the wine.

Remember to not get off with the delivery boy. Your health is important to me.

So I've done Mother's Day by Facetime and had an hour on the phone to my best friend. She has a farm that's on either side of the M25 and they're having a nightmare with people deciding to come for a walk across their fields. Earlier she found a family of five had set up a picnic in the middle of a field that they planted with wheat a fortnight ago and the three kids were just riding their bikes up and down the furrows, killing the sprouting plants. Yesterday some bloke broke their electric main gate by trying to climb over it, there's a kissing-gate right next to it but he chose to try and climb over the main gate. Even I, a townie, know that you only walk around the edges of fields, it's the Countryside Code.

We had a camper van pull up outside our house last night and have a drinks party. Don't get me wrong, they politely moved on request, but people have gone fucking mad.

I've just spent about 90 minutes in the front garden. First time outside of the front door in about 70 hours which was odd enough. Not so many people around at all, but then I do live on what is essentially a huge cul de sac. My mother who lives on a main road says it doesn't look much less busy than a normal Sunday to her.

I expected it to be dead on our road which is a main road and kind of like a small high street, it was like any other sunday.

Just went out to watch the space station pass over and I've never seen the sky so beautifully clear. So many stars and not a single plane flying over.
