Moopyvision 2010-2019 Round 13: Bosnia & Herzegovina, Montenegro, Slovakia & Turkey

Slovakia

3rd: Max Jason Mai - Don't Close Your Eyes (42pts)

Another country that just sort of got bored and wandered off after 2012, poor old Slovakia are probably the least mourned Eurovision ship-jumpers, having never qualified for a Grand Final in four attempts from 2009-2012, although they did make a trio of equally half-hearted efforts in the 90s. (Yes alright, Modlitba was pretty good).

Pioneering musician Max Jason Mai is one of the few Eurovision entrants who doesn't even merit his own Wikipedia page, so Christ knows where the Slovaks dragged him up from, or indeed where he wound up subsequently. There's really no point to this entry whatsoever. Listening back now for the first and last time since the broadcast, it commits the cardinal Eurovision sin of going nowhere while at the same time feeling like it goes on forever. Unsurprisingly, Europe gave this a hard pass and last place in a semi final was an appropriately mortifying note for Slovakia to limp out on.

2 x 12 (Buttertart - oh for heaven's sake..., Tischlampe - really, queen?)
15 x 0 (everyone else bar Madison, Win The Game and Alla)

Well he was last night when he had his dirty hands all over my bra. There seemed to be an air of surprise when a paw reached the fancy but I reassured him that I merely have an unnaturally protruding pudenda :disco:

So you were (and I paraphrase yesterday's drunken thread), the BITCH he was sharing a bed with last night. :o

Yes, I was only invited round on the condition that I dress up as a dog. What a DISGUSTING PERVERT. Luckily I managed to swipe the 2020 CAMRA guide and shit on that awful quilt cover before scarpering

NEVER AGAIN

Don't Close Your Eyes is one of my most played Eurovision songs. Okay, he sang it like he'd recently swallowed a wasp on the night but in studio form it's fantastic.

Shocked by that Bosnian result. Love in Rewind was easily the best I thought.

2nd: Can Bonomo - Love Me Back (114pts)

One of Sacha Baron Cohen's more elaborate guises, the alleged Can Bonomo saw out Turkey's 40-year Eurovision journey in a hail of bed linen and barely suppressed homosexuality.

I suppose you could charitably say he was a better time than the 2011 shower, and the footage of him hag-fagging his way through Baku with Kaliopi certainly endeared me to him a bit, but something definitely went off the boil with the Turks in their final years, and even the top ten success of this entry can't disguise the death rattle. At times the song genuinely sounds like he's half-heartedly making it up on the spot. The graph from 'Everyway That I Can' to this is a picture of terminal decline.

4 x 12 (sewerynsven, Penelope, wurst, Kevin)
3 x 0 (Alla, Ill Advised, Buttertart)

1st: MaNga - We Could Be The Same (204pts)

Oh, i suppose if we MUST allow heterosexuals into the playpen, allowing an ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM of one of these per year is acceptable.

15 x 12 (Sane people)
4 x 6 (The Can Bonomo enablers)

I did not give 12 to Love Me Back.
