Friday's back! New venue, new caravan, new kidney!

I might go out for a walk seeing as it's been ten days
Then again I might not

Woke up at 4 this morning and knocked back a bottle of wine to try and get back to sleep, it didn’t work so I’m still awake and drunk at 8 in the morning!

TGIF!
This is why we should have watched YOU KNOW WHAT last night.

This is my kind of post.

I'm at work and I feel absolutely fuck awful. Just in an exhausted and fed-up way. Baaad sleep. Wonky dreams. Wank computer to have to work on in the office. Generally cheeeeeeeeeesed off.

Is the title (and pregnancy) about Madame Zu's return?

Not so much of a reach

STOP INVITING ME TO WANKY BUSINESS PAGES ON FACEBOOK.

"Hey guys, we care about your wellbeing in work at this difficult time"
Cool, can we work from home or get some PPE?
"lol no - here's a poem about mindfulness"

Some people at work are very much having this, although thankfully not our team. Asking if they can work from home, to be told that they can't because our IT isn't up to it, and then having their job roles changed to go out into hostels. It all sounds a little DODGY to me.

My boss was SO HOSTILE to working from home prior to Corona. Basically it wasn't even an option. Then we got two cases at work and bitch (57) started fearing for himself :eyes:

Yes the one positive from this is, hopefully, the fact that my company realises I don’t need to be physically in the office 40 hours a week to do my job. I’d hate to work from home full time but 2 days a week would be great.

SAME

Oh just got a work email on well being suggesting we make sure we walk, BREATHE and to reduce caffeine intake.
Fuck off
Telling people to breathe is very ableist of them considering the current situation.

My nicotine and caffeine intake has gone through the ROOF since this all started. They’re pretty much the only thing keeping me in work.

This is the genie that won't go back into the bottle - I know people excluded from job roles because WFH wasn't an option and these companies now have dozens of people doing those exact same roles from home. In a decent society, this would be a learning and something upon which to build. Unfortunately, we have a Tory government so I'm not so hopeful.

From a pure capitalist perspective, all these companies will be looking at rent and utility bills and seeing some huge savings to be made by allowing working from home. Why pay for 400 desks to be cleaned, heated and lit when you can let the plebs run up their own bills.

Yeah my flatmate works for a large company in the city and even before this they were encouraging hot desking and working from home 2/3 days so they could cut office space.

When this is over I never want to work from home again, I’m just not suited to it. I miss my class, miss solving disputes and dramas using Judge Judy quotes (“did you take his pencil?” “No” “BALONEY SIR!”) and I miss playing random Eurovision songs between lessons (“why do we have to listen to this?” “Because Eurovision 1999 helps us to understand humanity, now stop crying”)

I’ve done lots of videos for online lessons but it’s just NOT THE SAME

Mr L's job was the same. He's always been resistant to working from home, but knew he was swimming against the tide - most people doing his job were doing it from home one or two days each week.

I don't think he's convinced yet, but he is appreciating the benefit of a 30 second commute and being able to watch TV on his lunch break.

I'm just worried he'll go to lard without the cycling every day.

I had a dream about a beautiful guy I dated years ago, only to look him up and find he's grown a moustache which really doesn't suit him.

Is this how Gatsby felt?
