Thursday burns their house down

Is this your first daily thread, Soldi? It's a special moment.

Woke up thinking it was Friday which, in fact, it is not. I think this has set the tone for the rest of the day.

I awoke thinking it was Wednesday.

Might go to Lidl today.

That's kind of it.

I've only been in Tesco since this whole thing started...this is largely because I have to go slightly out of my way to go anywhere else and I'm just not doing that at the minute. Whereas I pretty much bump into 3 Tescos on my walk from home to the office.

Sainsbury's for me today. They've got a really good social distancing system in place.

I’ve done the whole range of supermarkets recently. I think that’s about as close to being well-travelled as I’m likely to get for the foreseeable future.

I find people queue up outside with no problem, then get inside and forget all about it. Tesco have a one way system but I'm not really sure what that means if you get to the end and realise you've forgotten about 6 things (may or may not be talking from personal experience).

Is Thursday plural or non-binary? Before I came out I used to call boys I fancied "they" so people wouldn't know they were male. Instead people just thought I was weird

Oh, I know...I walk *very* quickly so I can occasionally go past something by the time I've thought "oooh, hold on, I could do with some ownbrand Wheetybisks". Can I take those two steps back without some fucking COP glowering at me? No. No I can't.

The biggest problem is wankers coming up and taking things off the shelf from over your shoulder. I hope Sainsbury's social distancing policy includes SHOOTING them

This is true. The last time I went out was 4 weeks ago to any shop. I really do need some air.

You've not been out at ALL? Or just not out to the shops?

To the shops! I don't manage to get out a lot otherwise though, it's really tough as I'm on my own with both kids so I usually have to wait till the weekend when Mr Star is free to help.

I hate supermarket shopping. I go in, whizz round, don't look at my list, then realise I've forgotten anything I don't regularly buy. I'm also trying to not DAWDLE in front of any shelves (can't say the same for fellow shoppers...) So this whole business just isn't working for me.

At the checkout last time, me and the girl had a good system of staying apart from eachother as she scanned, and I flitted between emptying the trolly and packing, only for some MAN to walk right in between us and shout DID MY WIFE LEAVE HER CAR KEYS HERE. I scoffed in his face so I hope THAT SHOWED HIM.

Actually yesterday I was feeling a bit down about it all. Feels like my day is just 5am -8pm kids and by then I'm so exhausted I have no time for me. Think I'm just going to have to take them both out round the block and hope neither runs out into the road :D :(

Aaw @Star that does sound tough. Things must be really quite magnified when you have young kids (not an optician pun). I hope you can get some nice long walks in at the weekend to partly make up for it at least

I think feeling down about it is completely natural but will pass, just try to take it a day at a time. My work put on a 'mental well-being' talk yesterday which was actually quite useful, showing the peaks and troughs of how we're all feeling frustrated, then depressed, then we start to accept and integrate with our new way of life, but although everyone's at different stages, we're all going through it and there's some comfort in that I think.

Also I misread your post and thought your plan was to "take them both back" :oi:

I’ve just remembered @Ag promised us a video of him rapping to Love City Groove.

Well, I say ‘promised’... it’s a bit more like when Bob Geldof announced a load of bands for Live Aid before asking them and just hoped they’d all agree.

I'm playing the KEY WORKER card so vigorously, it's going to be more worn out than Boris Johnson's wanking sock.

This is what gets me! You see someone coming so you stop to give them space and let them though. Then some other idiot sees you standing there and squeezes through you and the person you were waiting for making the whole thing pointless.
I wasn’t standing there waiting for no reason!

Exactly this.

I have managed not to go to any shops at all thanks to Ocado. I should probably feel bad for taking a slot that a vulnerable person could potentially use but I DON'T

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with us heroic key workers playing the key worker card once in a while/hourly.
What’s important is that we stay grounded, and show appreciation for all of the special treatment we deservedly get.

You've had the dreaded Covid, you're excused.

I think the term Keyworker is very broad and there are plenty of people who are classed as a keyworker who actually, probably aren’t that important. Someone who works at Domino’s is hardly critical, are they? Or someone who works in George at Asda.

Anyone who keeps me in pizza is as important as they come. Some heroes wear aprons etc.

Which means I'm probably now immune and should be out helping the community :) but fuck that.

I have signed up for dog-walking on a couple of local websites but had no response so MEH

Dominoes not a keyworker? Wash your mouth out!

I work in insurance, and before they shut the office they tried to pull the keyworker card with us. They even gave us a letter we could present to the police saying we process claims so we're essential (N.B. I don't process claims so that was literally a LIE).
