I feel exhausted after the rush of this album. I don't know where it sits in her back catalogue, but I know I will enjoy it in a year where we need as much fun pop as we can get.

The imagery really belongs to a much more sonically adventurous album than this one. The entire Chromatica concept feels very stitched on in post production, like someone panicked and said "BUT HOW WILL WE MARKET IT"

I love some of the posters there. I love how there are still people who take POP music so seriously they take their time to write insightful stuff. I wonder why do they make it so hard to sign up though?

Actually I think I definitely did as well. I don’t remember actually signing up or saying anything but it WAS where I first saw mention of a certain lounge containing truly horrible, angry people and notorious for its gladiatorial atmosphere and lurid mystique

I waded through hundreds of KPOP bots posting videos of random Korean people smiling and dancing, internet gays changing download links to terrible Selena Gomez songs and reporting everyone to the FBI, all to discover that the best beat (Haus Labs instrumental) isn't even on the fucking album

Eventually I found the leak and enjoyed a couple of tracks, so I'll wait for the HQ version before making much more judgement, but I was a bit underwhelmed. I thought it'd be more of a weird, modern twist on 90s dance instead of what it actually is. Replay is the closest to what I wanted.

I thought I was exaggerating but after the second listen I can confirm that it is indeed garbage. Alice is the only song that gets it right. The 90s eurodance sound, the melancholic chorus, the trademark Gaga ma ma ma’s. Nothing else comes near. I’m not sure how much I will even want to return to this because the second listen scarred me more than the first.

In the world of Spotify I don’t get why artists don’t just whack EVERYTHING THEY HAVE up. Surely it will just translate into more streams which equals more coin in the long run - at least versions of songs that have already been released, I understand unreleased tracks are a different thing.

Better than it just sitting on a hard drive anyways.

Some of these songs are SO incredibly basic(intentional or not), yet still enjoyable. Alice, Sour Candy, Fun Tonight and 1000 Doves are the worst offenders. I pretty much love everything else.
