Babylon is perfect. More of that was needed. But I'll settle for a five minute mix.
 
Alice feels head and shoulders above the rest. It doesn't necessarily sound better, It's just more polished and feels more COMPLETE than the other songs.

Or maybe it's just a more traditionally structured song.
 
How are you always SO wrong?

It goes verse - chorus - middle 8 - end, it's by default one of the most weirdly structured songs here as it skips the second verse.
 
Alice is legit one of the best songs this year. It's just so fucking smooth.
 
She has a lead of 33k in the UK album chart first update. Safe to say it’s in the bag! Hope she does the double though!
 
If that's the lead, I imagine #2 is on single figure thousands.

With incomparable flair, the pop diva returns to her dance-pop days with a fabulously fun and deeply personal album that is at turns bizarre, theatrical, and ambitious.

If “Sine From Above” runs on WTF, “Enigma” runs on familiarity: Every musical and emotional beat arrives precisely on cue, as if the club had muscle memory. It’s massive, it has a gravitational pull. Uncoincidentally, the chorus recalls a certain other song about being heroic lovers, just for one night. It slots right into Gaga canon: Enigma is the name of her recent Vegas residency, and the snippets of sax that crest above the choruses recall the late E Street Band member Clarence Clemons on Born This Way. And, crucially, it nails the desire of meeting someone in all its urgency. On planet Chromatica, “Enigma” is otherworldly: the atmospheres light up violet, dragon’s eyes and phantoms abounding. It’s the same drive that’s powered dance music, from disco to house to Gaga—turning a moment heightened, more fantastic, and, even at its most strobe-lit and artificial, somehow entirely human.
 
It's really interesting how "Rain On Me" has turned this around when surely the performance of "Stupid Love" didn't suggest this was going to be a big selling album out the gate, albeit, of course, that it's only week one and loon sales will be HIGH.

There must be STOCKING PROBLEMS too as I pre-ordered on Thursday and Amazon still haven't dispatched the deluxe CD yet.
 
The clear vinyl turned up this morning from her site, though. Weren't they supposed to be autographed or was that something else? Not that I'm majorly bothered- it looks a bit SHIT though. They could have given it an actual cover rather than the see through shite it is...

haha fitness. i've deff lost a ton of "muscle" mass melancholically power-bottoming to Plastic Doll throughout the weekend.
 
I think Replay is my favourite song on this album. It’s so so good and it’s refreshing having Gaga doing a ”simple” pop song without trying to squeeze in too much.

This is shaping up as potential album of the year material for me.

It's hard to say it's a career best when there's obviously not going to be anything as career defining as Poker Face or Bad Romance on there, but certainly her most start-to-finish enjoyable album for me. Even The Fame Monster was marred by shitty old Speechless, whereas there's not a dud to be found on this one.

I think it’s her ONLY consistently good album :) (having put myself through that BTW shower of turds the other day)

I even actively chose to listen to it again yesterday :shock:

it helps that she didn’t shove a ballad on there just to balance it out. It doesn’t need a ballad!

Totally agree.

Maybe this album is fun for the casual fans. Her monsters hate it because it’s not as ”arty” as usual.

The 'arty' stuff is what's always put me off about her (that and her penchant for terribly boring piano ballads).

She's capable of being a fabulous pop star, but the pretentious nonsense that populates roughly 2/3 of Born This Way and almost the entirety of Artpop has always been a big blocker for me. Then boring pap like Joanne and *shudder* Cheek to Cheek just went too far in the other direction.

This feels like the first time in a decade when she's felt like she's dropped all the baggage and just focused on the JOY of being a proper pop star.
