Jessie Ware - What's Your Pleasure?

The white one says SOLD OUT but if you put it in basket it should let you buy - did for me an hour ago, anyway

My expectations for this woman are probably higher than most but I am floored by this

Apart from being wall to wall glorious tunes it’s just very, very clever. It’s like we never knew we needed a Diana Ross / Jody Watley / Stephanie Mills / Kylie Minogue/ Roisin Murphy hybrid, and yet here it is

and I was NOT prepared for that closing track...

I THINK I prefer Soul Control to The Kill as my track of choice.

It's all just TOO MUCH!

Every song is just growing and growing. It's insane. Today I'm obsessed with:

Ooh La La - the random instruments just CRASHING IN whimsically are everything, as is the cigarettes on the dash line
The Kill - the part from 3:00 onwards where it BLOSSOMS into something brassy, warm and hopeful is simply delightful
Soul Control - no explanation required

Still #3 in the mids with a 2.5k gap over Capaldi so she should hold on :disco:

Not sure if this remix has been mentioned. She's really committed to old school sounds. This is bringing me 'only remix on a tape single from 1994, like it or buy the CD' vibes and it's all the better for it.

After 5 months living alone in lockdown I’ll let any willing top have a go, to be perfectly honest

Although I think the opportunity for me to ever say “so so pussy” with any plausibility has long since passed, sadly :(

Have we seen this from her NME interview?

And for a second I really wanted Kylie Minogue on one of the songs for a long time. And I still think potentially I will ask her to be on one. I think that maybe I felt like it wasn’t necessary…I wanted to present the record like this, but there’s still the chance to reimagine them with other artists…

MAKE IT HAPPEN (and let it be the title track)

2.1k ahead of Lewis Capaldi at #4 in the update yesterday, so she should be good to hold at #3 in the final chart.

BEB!!!

the huns are such GREEDY bottoms :D

Album arrived this morning. On now. Sounding marvellous. Naturally.
I genuinely have to resist until at least early afternoon otherwise I just play it ALL DAY EVERY DAY and forget about the other poor bitches who need my streams

Obviously picking out a singular favourite MOMENT across this, the greatest album of all-time, is a task as fruitless as trying to find a top at a Chromatica listen party, but if I may cheat and pick TWO, the one-two punch of the final 90 seconds of The Kill segueing into the intro of Remember Where You Are has to be right up there. We really are NOT worthy.

Officially #3 in the UK by the way, becoming her 4th straight top 10 album and beating out the previous high peak of #5 for Devotion. :disco:

Aw bless her, she must be thrilled :D
Must be quite a different experience to when she released Glasshouse which I assume was quite muted in comparison.

I hope it can hang about about - rave reviews across the board will definitely pique the interest of the casuals.

And I know it’s YEARS AWAY, but I’d love her to explore the Detroit/Chicago house sound that she dipped her toe into on Overtime for the follow up.

I’m not sure she could really IMPROVE on What’s Your Pleasure’s disco sound, so frankly why bother :D :disco:

I think the follow up will probably be a deluxe (or second disc) with 5-6 songs or something - perfect chance to include Overtime and maybe go a bit deeper house. I'm sure they'll want to milk a reissue by Christmas.

I want MORE with James Ford who is clearly a GOD and a session with Disclosure would be LOVELY

Pleased it held up, hopefully it won't sink like a stone and word of mouth will keep it afloat.

I’m refusing to rate this until I’ve maxed out and every song is a 10

I’m not far off to be fair

I think you need to tweet her immediately

According Dame Ware they used to play at the end of gay club nights in NY in the 1980s.

Yes a stuffed bonus disc with Overtime, some complimentary new tracks and remixes/collaborations if JW feels so inclined would be wonderful. Hell, tack Time After Time on there if it is available.

Late with this but echoing everyone’s sentiment - what an absolute TRIUMPH. The album closer is one of the most majestic songs I’ve heard in ages. Perfect marriage of singer, song and genre.

I was a bit worried the disco shoes were gonna wear HER rather than the other way round before listening to the full thing but it’s so cohesive and lush without ever being dull or monotonous.

JESSUS HAS ASCENDED.
