The BBC have been atrocious recently. Weren’t they telling us we were all getting the bubonic plague a few days ago?
 
Not to scare monger, but what bothers me is that it’s only a small minority who a) have symptoms and so get checked in the first place, and then a small minority of those who b) are likely to be honest about it and contact the pub they were in
And this is just 3 days worth
Definitely waiting 14+ days before setting foot inside a pub. I’d like to know how big the iceberg is.

My understanding of it was, and correct me if I am wrong, that the pub gives the details to contact tracers proactively, so if someone on that list is then confirmed by a test to have Coronavirus, then that is flagged up automatically that they were in the pub?

This may be based on my understanding of how it will work in Scotland however.

BBC News has being going down the click bait route for a few years now. Almost Buzzfeed-lite levels of click baiting which is really irritating.
 
I liked the media/government’s utter shock over the weekend, realising that drunk people are likely to break social distancing guidelines.

Deaths in the US yesterday rose sharply to 993, a four-week high since 998 on June 10th. 134k in total so far, and this is still the "first wave". Grim!

UK's post-weekend bounce was 155 deaths, exactly flat with one week ago.
 
Gyms, pools, and sports facilities are reopening July 11th.

Outside performance spaces also reopening.
 
Outdoor performances - good! Might feel like we're living some kind of LIFE again!

Pools - fair enough, plenty of chlorine, not sure why they didn't before

Gyms - ohboy. All that sweat on everything, all that puffing and blowing. At least we'll know by then what the impact of the pubs was and can abort if necessary.
 
Oh this has MADE MY DAY! It's obviously going to be ATROCIOUSLY MANAGED since we're not going to be able to take over and the pools are going to be crowded but after four months in dry land I'm looking forward to some LANE RAGE :disco:

Scotland. Hairdressers don't open up here until 15th July.

We're several weeks behind England with regards to relaxing lockdown restrictions. Little of what Boris and the Tories are announcing really applies up here. Sturgeon has put us on a more cautious path.
 
Whilst outdoor events are back on is there any word on capacity restrictions or is it down to venues to stipulate based on distancing?
 
The US and especially Florida are peaking but that won’t stop them

 
Actually, a chap I work with has fashioned an impressive QUIFF. He makes it work too.

It’s very kind of them to run the “how fast can a country attain herd immunity” experiment which should provide interesting data. Good luck to them on the question of whether that eventually means 80% of their population gets long term health issues (well, on top of the obesity!)
 
Forgive me for I have sinned... managed 6 days before cracking and checking out THE PUB

Only went for one in the beer garden though. Had to go through the pub - plenty of distancing and good behaviour (wasn't late), hand sanitiser on entry, forgot to give details (but they know who I am), screens up at the bar but table service only etc. But indoors was still a massive NOPE just due to how stuffy it seemed. Need more ventilation. Glad to have only passed through

First time using cash since March as well because they're still not in the 21st century

The pint (Abbeydale) was MUCH more worthy of the "angel pissing on my tongue" description I saw someone give in the media than the Carling piss they were drinking.. sooo good a first post lockdown pint, glad I didn't pick something shit.

Beer garden was near empty as it was cold, but rather be cold than covid.

Really weird being there, like a combination of a dangerous forbidden place and being in the past.

Felt safe enough, ready to eat my words in a week!
