COB is right! I have been at my mum and dad’s house in the Scottish Borders since March - I normally live in London.

If it is COVID, there is very little risk that I have picked it up here as the rate is really low and i’ve barely been out. I’ve spent time with a total of seven people other than my mum and dad in the past two weeks.

Even I know this is super dodge - my old job involved working with young carers. Many of them look after parents and siblings at home who have vulnerabilities to COVID - sending them to school is essentially putting their family members at risk.

sad to report there are strong rumours circulating that Manchester will be going into a heavy lockdown next Friday (heavy like Leicester, close everything back up).

That’s just in England isn’t it? I think the Scottish Government announced at the end of June that parents here wouldn’t be punished although the position may have changed since then.

I'm very aware I'm going to be in Brighton on Saturday which is going to super hot and therefore super busy. If we do the beach it will be Hove or Kemp Town.
 
Thing is, it's not a surprise. It's not going to die out with the world still trying to be the way it was before Coronavirus arrived until a vaccine arrives.
 
My boy goes back to school tomorrow and I am riddled with anxiety. :zombie: He of course couldn’t give a damn and wants to go back.
 
That's Putin claiming that Russia has a vaccine. Bollocks they do - his idea of a vaccine is a bullet.

I assume they'll be testing it in Salisbury due to its wonderful cathedral.
 
It's just about possible that they could have a vaccine. What they won't have is any idea whether it's safe or whether it provides more than very, very temporary immunity, and they can pretty much only know that if they intentionally exposed their testers to the virus. I don't think I'll be at the front of the queue to take it.
 
I'm not going to automatically assume it's false just because it's Russia. Any vaccine progress is good news IMO! Sure it's not a silver bullet but it'll help.

Fairly quick is also how the Oxford one will hopefully be - but if the scientists are happy then I'm happy.
 
I wouldn't say that the Russian vaccine is false. I'm sure that it's a very promising vaccine candidate, but there are probably at least half a dozen of those around the world, including the Oxford vaccine. My suspicion is that the Russians have rushed both the safety and the efficacy parts of the testing to an extent that no one else is doing, simply because there hasn't been time for them to have done anything else.

I look forward to the Russian population descending into a zombie apocalypse. They should have watched I Am Legend before skimping on proper testing.

OK, the figures have been released this evening so the problem has now been cleared up. :)
 
Gulp.

0.85% positive, it was hovering around 0.52% a couple of weeks ago. I guess it's our turn for that resurgence that so many other places are seeing.

Just as we got dragged back to work!

Liking the gov's new regional map, but it needs more regular updates. 0-1 cases last week can be many more a week later.
 
Meanwhile, the Home Secretary is FUMMIN at being called out by an ice-cream company. Priorities, eh?
