Dunno about disowned, but definitely SHUNNED. She's really the only child to not have received the full White House treatment.

Though I'm sure, MARLA isn't complaining.
 
It’s so funny how the government has essentially become a subsidy of the Trump Empire and it’s too late for the rest of the Republican Party to do anything now, they are so intertwined with his fervent base that they cannot hope to win an election without him. Not until he’s wiped off the map completely.

the funniest/most horrific part is that with the whole family they’re going to be in American politics for another generation at least. When you think the bar can’t get any lower, we might have to deal with Junior in 2024 :zombie:

I don’t really think there is much of a radical left in America... I mean there’s pockets of hardcore socialism im sure but there are also pockets of nazis. They don’t trouble the polls.

the proper left - Sanders, AOC, etc are only really left by American standards. And America is still stricken by a narrative than anyone who thinks left of centre is a communist traitor. One of the biggest problems with American culture is its inability to draw shade out of black and white. Everything has to be to the extreme or the opposite. It’s as scary as it is excruciating.

but here’s my problem with the left, and why Trump, as awful as he is and has been, is still I with a chance:

the left - I need you to be a socialist, but protect the economy. I need you to protect black people, and reduce police spending, save the environment, introduce healthcare, protect immigrants, be Latino, be black, be Asian, be Jewish, be gay, change the 2nd amendment no questions asked, think of the children, think of the animals, do everything and if you can’t be or don’t do at least 90% of these things, I’m out.

the right - I don’t care who you are, as long as I can keep my guns, you build a wall and say God a few times, I’m good.
 
I don't know if I agree that it's a problem with 'the left', as much as the Democratic Party trying to be all things to all people. At what point does the big tent become too big?

The optimal outcome of all this for me would be if Trump and MAGA really do lead to the downfall of the Republicans, the Democrats become the centre-right party a lot of their leadership clearly want them to be, and we get the formation of some sort of American Labour Party as a genuinely left-wing opposition. I know that'll never happen, but I can dream :tongueout:

That's not a problem with the Left. That's a problem of the RIGHT.

Their stupidity leaves them with very low standards. They'll buy into anything that looks and sounds 'right'. The American Right Wing lacks the logic to dig deeper because the culture is permeated by conspiracy theories and folklore. High standards should be the status quo.

oh when I say problem, I mean the reality of, it'll win them the election. I'm not saying it's right, oh absolutely not...

As if that’s part of the BLM movement, I’d be very much inclined to tell people to fuck off if a group of them got in my face demanding me to support solidarity for any cause, particularly if I was having a DRINK at the time. God forbid people don’t spend every second of every day protesting.

All movements, I’d say, but especially when you’re so convinced that you and only you have the right opinion and everyone else should follow you.

Sure I guess? I'm talking about coordinated attempts by intelligence agencies to co-opt popular movements with actual energy behind them, defanging them so they're not a threat to power. The FBI and CIA have a history of doing this all over the world - I'm not sure how to even start to combat it effectively :(

I don’t know why they’d want to destabilise their own country like they do to others (but what do I know).... but right now these young activists seem to be doing the job by their own
 
I've been watching a videos of the Fox News reactions when Obama won in 2008.

It's fascinating how (relatively) measured they are. I honestly think if Biden wins this time you'll have Jeanine Pirro screaming tearfully about the end times within 30 seconds of the announcement.

This is much easier to say when you are not emotionally charged and part of a group where mob mentality has set in.

It is why leadership is important, people who have some degree of control over a crowd who can stop it degenerating into things like this.
