I love it normally, because a) it's sub-surface so uses the nicer bigger carriages and b) I live on the end of the line so I always get a seat.
 
I currently have three different Travelodge customer service reps, their social media team and my credit card company on the case for this £97 they’ve robbed from me.
They’re telling me the terms & conditions on their website are out of date, despite being freely available to view and having NO DATE OF EXPIRY anywhere at all on the page.
I’m perversely enjoying having a good old fashioned kick off.
 
The best bit of course is they could have been reasonable and given you a credit voucher, but because they're being stupid cunts they will have to refund you AND I believe there is an additional charge for them associated with a chargeback :) (@octophone to confirm)

My first year consisted of heading off after morning tutorials for a liquid lunch at the pub my friend worked at.

And then there was the time I missed my first Psychology lecture at 9.00am as I was slumped on the stairs outside still half-cut.
 
I can't count many weeks at uni where I wasn't inebriated in some measure Wednesday-Sunday

Don’t £1 drinks for students aka cheap house spirits and a mixer exist anymore?

It’s the only way I could have afforded to go out 6 nights out of 7, until I found a RICH OLDER MAN.

In normal times, there's a charge to the bank for raising a chargeback - this charge is returned if it is successful, at the expense of the business against whom it was raised. My understanding is that some of these fees were suspended due to the sheer volumes surrounding Covid. Given that we're had customers report that businesses have been contacting them and offering vouchers to a higher value than the cash claim if they withdraw the c/back, I suspect that some of the fees are very much extant.
 
...and Travelodge can fuck off. Ripped off loads of elderly people by denying their own terms and conditions. And they're still doing it.

Does that matter?! Surely if they're the T's and C's on the site they're the ones they and you should abide by.

I want to know how to raise this further, to be honest. Those t&c's are still there and people will continue to book during this period on the strength of Travelodge's own promise to issue refunds if they then cancel - they need to be taken to task.

There aren't any, they say their regular t&c's apply, which is absolutely fine and dandy and I'd accept that, were it not for the entire page of t&c's they have freely available on their website for saver rate bookings and how I'm entitled to a refund if I cancel any reservation for a stay between March and December of this year.

From memory when I had a proper merchant account there was also serious repercussions if you have an excessive number of chargebacks

Yes. Number 1 - yr bank won't like you. Number 2 - if Visa and/or Mastercard get sufficiently fed up, they'll withdraw your ability to take credit card payments through their scheme, which is very bad news.
 
Aye, thought as much. No one likes a high risk merchant.
 
Just left the office. Not sure who I am these days, but to be honest drinking beer at my desk does help take the edge off a late finish.
 
Talking of hard liquor I very nearly ordered myself a negroni at brunch. On my own.
