Fuzzy. Beers turned into red wines and were then followed by some really large gins. Meh.
 
Posting from my mother's spare bedroom. She had a cataplexy attack on Friday, and fell hard, hitting her head. Seemed fine at first, but then admitted to hospital on Saturday afternoon with concussion. Lots of tests and scans, thankfully all normal. Home now, but still very weak, so I stayed with her last night.

I never lived in the flat where she is now, yet still being in her spare room is like being catapulted back 40 years.
 
I've never heard of cataplexy, sounds bonkers.
 
I spent 12 hours on Saturday sampling beers from a range of pubs, like the super-spreader I could potentially be.

Needless to say yesterday was a bit of a write-off, and today's not looking too smart either.

I think it only exists alongside narcolepsy. That's why she was prescribed dexamphetamine for decades. A few years ago a doctor decided that probably wasn't a good thing and changed her to modafinil.

Has she got anyone coming round to look after her, or are you staying on for a bit until she recovers?

I'll play it by ear. Now she's come to herself more today, I can tell she's already a bit better than yesterday. She's got her appetite back, but she's still a bit doddery on her feet so I wouldn't trust her in the kitchen bending around to get things out to cook. She is at least getting to the bathroom on her own, though.
 
In our office there are two of the staff with children at school. The one with the 5 year old had a text on Saturday to say a child in his "class bubble" has tested positive and the one with the 14 year old had a text yesterday saying one in her daughter's "bubble" has tested positive.

Is she prone to stubbornly insisting she can manage or will she let you cook for her? I only ask because it’s a tradition of the women in my family to refuse assistance and have to be scraped up from the kitchen floor three times a day.

She was diagnosed with cataplexy in her late 30s, after years of being misdiagnosed. For about 5 years we thought she had MS. So the cataplexy isn't new for her. The danger is exactly what happened - that she could hurt herself falling. And I think that has really shook her. It really was quite a thwack to the head apparently from what her friend who she was with said. So I think anyone who experienced that would be suffering, but presumably in your 70s it's going to take longer to bounce back from it.

So she's actually pretty compliant and letting me do stuff. Which in a way is a good indicator, because I know as soon as she feels better, she will be getting up to do stuff herself.

We've had a massive computer failure this morning and I'm being called a jinx :D "Oh aye, as soon as you turn up, it all goes to cock, don't go whale watching any time soon, eh?" etc etc.
 
I finished cleaning and posted the keys through the letterbox of my flat last night :o

it was a pretty sad, and doesn’t quite feel real yet, but I’m also so looking forward to lockdown in London :D

When I sold my house I wrote it a love letter. And I fucking hated that house. It's an odd feeling.
 
Could be worse, you could have written a song about your old house and insisted on recording it on the piano despite the fact you can't really play the piano. Or sing. :shy:

Don't believe the propaganda Star! Yes, one bloke from Breightmet didn't isolate (and probably many more) but even with the most creative accounting of "he infected x people, who then infected x more people" it comes nowhere near to explaining the surge in numbers we've got. Our council are just trying to deflect blame onto the general public, as are the Government (go to school, go to work, eat out to help out - it's safe, honest), who hate them because they're all bent as nine-bob notes when it comes to council funds and they keep getting found out.
