The prospect of lockdown v2.0 is proper terrifying. Not sure my mental health could take any more, especially with winter closing in, meaning sitting in the garden and exercise are much less appealing.

Couldn't give a flying fig about the virus itself.

I'm quiet good at staying in and not leaving the house, I used to do it for days, but even I really don't like the idea of a full lockdown again in winter. It's going to fuck up a lot of people.

OK there’s a huge spectrum ranging from big groups of students going on pub crawls to friends having a few too many innocent hugs, but surely most of us can be honest with ourselves and say we HAVEN’T been.

Apart from clamping down more on mask wearing indoors, higher fines (issued and enforced by whom?) and an hour less in the pub/restaurant, everything is pretty much the same, isn’t it? Our company had only just started to do risk assessments for a return to the office and weren’t really expecting to return before the end of the year anyway.

I suppose the sporting spectator and indoor team sport stuff but I personally don’t care about that.

It's odd though... I just did an analysis of the percentage increase of cases week on week the last 7 weeks and... basically there was a massive increase last week, but this week there's not been that much of an increase. It seems to be levelling out again already.

In most areas of the South of England, coronavirus cases have dropped in the last 2 weeks... I don't really understand why we are having extra vigilance following that..?! I think the local lockdown situation was one of the only good things they did - just keep on with that using trigger values to place local areas into lockdown.

I don't know about England, but the BBC is reporting 37 deaths in the UK, which is the highest figure since 14th July.

Agreed. Just checked my local postcode and since the beginning up to today, our total positive cases have been 0.42% of the population with 0.08% being registered as Covid related deaths and the weekly reported cases are still going down compared to the national figures. Surely local lockdowns and better policing in the problem areas make more sense. Scrap the mask "exemptions" too.

Scrap the mask "exemptions" too.

I'd have objected on grounds of having a friend with autism (sensory issues) who really genuinely cannot handle wearing a mask, but apparently a face shield is okay. So honestly screw it, I pretty much agree - stop the exceptions in their current form, allow a shield if someone can't handle a mask.
