Tuesday coughs up a lung but everything's fine

Why would you? They added on 6 months to MOT dates in peak lockdown...
It just made sense to get it done whilst I was back at home and using my car quite often for work, rather than now when I’m back at uni and not driving.

It’s a fifteen year old car and has had plenty of use and doesn’t run perfectly even at the best of times, so I wanted a bit of peace of mind that it wouldn’t set on fire when I’m having a jolly down the M1.

My boss is on leave and has left me a LIST of things to get done but it’s all been kicking off this morning and I’m STRESSED.

So I’m now having a Diet Coke and watching the fit landscaper in the garden.

Is it still only Tuesday?! UGH.

Need to book time off for MOT on the 27th but it comes to mind that we might be in the middle of a "circuit breaker" by then.

Just use one of the many websites that come and pick your car up, mot it and bring it back. I can send you some referral code to get it cheap if you like.

I'm finding life very fucking difficult today. If I didn't have the school run in an hour I'd probably just give up and get fucking wankered.

TBH there's a local place I could take it to, but I'm taking it to the main dealer as last time they failed it on a suspension part and then covered it under warranty (justified by low mileage) so it cost me nowt to fix.

Of course, it is a gamble - if they find another suspension part this time and decide not to cover it, dealer prices are insane, and they won't let you drive away with a "dangerous" on the MOT. In which case I'll be asking "how can I get my car picked up and fixed by someone charging a sane amount" :)

I hate having to deal with cars and mechanics. My last car was such a nightmare that broke down all the time.

I’m in a huff, the Japanese drama I got obsessed with that nobody cares about, I finished season 1, and now find out that season 2 has no English subtitles :) Netflix you cunts

every programme without exception has an English description, some even have subtitles IN THE TRAILER, and then don’t have subtitles. Who are these descriptions FOR?!

The last time I took my car for a service at the main dealer they rang and told me there was a nail in my tyre and it was in such a place as it couldn't be repaired so a new tyre would cost me £220 + VAT and did I want them to fit it now. I asked whether the tyre pressure was low, they said no it was fine so I went down, paid for the service (which turned out to be a £125 oil change, no wiper blades, no remote batteries or anything) and drove it half a mile to my usual mechanic who checked it, realised it was a teeny tiny screw in a part that could be repaired, pulled out the screw, repaired the puncture and I was on my way again 10 minutes later.

I hate main dealerships.

I went to Uni to work for the first time since March. It's Freshers Week and the campus was dead, which kinda depressing. I did have the whole Postgraduate room to myself which was amazing.

That's great Beetie! So glad they listened to your concerns about running a covers competition on a gay chat lounge alongside your full time job! :)
I explained the importance of ASFM and how difficult it is to operate a spreadsheet AND patiently explain what a cover is to 39 different people, and they offered me three months' paid leave. I said no because I don't want to take the piss.

So I was told today that I'm going to be working from home full time. I could have fucking cried I was that relieved.

Ah that's great BT. I know in my job I can't work from home, but I do wish my bosses would be stricter on all the covid rules, it really is a free for all at my place with anyone walking in, no control at all.

Car fixing is just a game of shopping around. I used to have an amazing dodgy mechanic that did everything for me dirt cheap in Manchester, but I lost his number when I moved away and now I can't find him.

Do you not have a maximum number allowed in at one time?

Yep. Should be 20 (including staff). But no one pays attention to that when the door is wide open and unmanned. Really poor management.
Yeah that's pretty bad. I've noticed a few places getting quite lax with manning the door, mind. York was reassuringly well-staffed but around here it's anything goes.

I could understand getting lax if the case numbers were dropping, but current state of play is showing it's tripled in a fortnight. Really not the time to drop the ball...

I had my first ever anxiety attack today at work.
One of the places I work at decided it would be a super idea to go back to having the whole school eating together in the same room because who needs bubbles?! It's also great fun being mocked by the SLT for following council protocol and wearing a mask. :manson:

:( Sorry to hear that Wendy

Jesus, is there anyone you can report that to? Surely a load of kids all in the one room like that is totally against the rules?

You'd think so eh? It so the staff can get a peaceful lunch and so they can have staff meetings (with more than 6)
The SLT shading us is our line manager so no.
