Not liking that death figure today :( should be in the thousands in a few weeks... bleak

At least for the most part we seem capable of discussing it fairly rationally here without losing our shit. Everywhere else I look, tempers flare between the "this is an overreaction to the flu" and "we're doomed, lock us all up forever" crowds with very little in the way of nuance in between, and I keep seeing how it's pushing friends apart. Like everything else these days it's become a divisive black-and-white binary issue where you're on one team or the other and hardly anyone is capable of talking about it like an adult.

I loved connecting to a Zoom call earlier with my colleague gurning down the camera "READY TO BE RECONFINED?" Yeah, thanks bish.

Oh god I hope it doesn't rise that much :( Honestly I'm getting so stressed out about my work now, covid control is just so awful I feel really unsafe :( It’s really playing on my mind now

Um...

Theres little to suggest it will get into the thousands. Wards are much better equipped now. They arent panicked like before, treatments are successful and progress is continuing in the right direction. I know a lot of the tinfoil hats talk about comorbidity being a con, and while I dont agree with them, the vast majority of covid deaths now are in people with a lot vulnerability because of age and/or other conditions.

Obviously were still not out of the woods, but we wont have a peak like earlier in the year, coupled with a potential vaccine in the new year, we should be able to move on after this ‘season’

This is what they told us a few days ago, we went from 300 deaths yesterday to 500 today.

Full lockdown is surely going to be announced in the next couple of days here and I'm not taking it that well :(

I mean, that's not losing shit (to which I was mostly referring to people's attitudes towards each other) - death rate is doubling roughly every 10 days -
7 day average on 13/10 was 82, 20/10 was 136, 27/10 is 200 etc. Simple maths - 10 days... 400. 20 days... 800... just as the case numbers were doing a few weeks ago and this is the result.

Case numbers look like they're not going up as fast in the past couple of weeks, but they're not really doing enough testing - the discrepancy is increasing between confirmed cases and imperial college calculations which is currently just under 44k per day. Also backed up by the positive% hovering between 6 and 8% whilst the WHO guidance is that over 5% suggests not enough testing.

Death figures have been fairly low, but the recent days aren’t looking too well, are they?

I am getting rather ANXIOUS about all this. I hate that our government keep holding off what seems to me as the inevitable lockdown, and am getting quite annoyed how they are not acting quicker. SAGE are predicting a lockdown in December when the death total will hit 500 per day.

My woke FESSIERS are ecstatic :disco:
TBH I have already found all the workout spaces en plein air less than 1km from my place, and I'm quite well equipped post-lockdown so I'm going to definitely be working my buss as much possible during the famous 1hr exercise slot :disco:

Come to France babe, you can lock down from tonight :disco:

I got an email yesterday to say that a teacher at my sons school has tested positive for Covid. A couple of older students in S6 have also tested positive, and that is all we get told. Every child that has been in close contact with the teacher and the 2 kids has been told to self isolate, but as we have not been told anything I can only assume he hasn’t been in contact with any of them. WHO KNOWS? I would keep him off, but he WANTS to go so what’s a girl to do?

Most people don’t realise how quickly things can spread if the numbers grow exponentially.

As an example, if you had one case, and that figure doubled every day (which obviously Covid isn’t at the moment, but this is just an example, HOW LONG DO YOU THINK IT WOULD TAKE UNTIL YOU HAD ONE MILLION CASES?

I need to get some equipment and cancel my gym subscription coz that whore is as good as dead for 2020.

Apparently good old Angie Merkel is proper fed up with everything over here and wants to put down the lockdown-like hammer for November - but some of the state ministers aren't playing along. :manson:

We're on Mutti's side. Yeah, some states and areas are currently hit harder than others and it's gonna be a hard month for many industries but our current peak is 15k - if we can avoid numbers escalating and rocketing skywards like in France, Benelux and Cze, we have to start now and we have to go in with tough measures.

It's not the time to tip-toe between Tier 2 and Tier 3.

Just a silly trivial thing I know, but on my lunchtime wander, automatically stepped out into the road to give distance (ingrained habit now) to a mother and little girl who were coming the other way and got a "thaaaank yew!" from the little girl who was praised by the mother who said thanks as well. Little pleasantries like that just kind of brighten up the day.

Apparently we're now in tier ONE PLUS. Something the council made up to make us feel special.

Allegedly all of Germany into lockdown-like restrictions starting Monday, 02 November. Closure of bars, restaurants (takeaway only), pubs, gyms, theaters, all sports event to be held without spectators. So all things gastronomy and entertainment wiped for November. Further contact restrictions also expect. Basically, the restrictions for my district will be in place for the rest of the country. We're such trendsetters.

Germany and France, hand in hand into a month of confinement. :disco:

LATEST DAILY FIGURES - 310 DEATHS

JUST LOCK US DOWN FOR ALL OF NOVEMBER BEFORE THIS GETS EVEN MORE OUT OF CONTROL

Oof. Positive cases creeping up towards realism too. The sad thing is, roughly 3 weeks worth of death number rises are "baked in" already.

Patients on ventilators is already a quarter of the first peak :(

Apparently we're now in tier ONE PLUS.

God tier as far as Android based mobile phones go.
