OMG the scene of them on a part bench where Pettifleur blathers on about her sister drinking fancy coffees, whilst said sister looks on with a face of pure HATE is one of the most BIZARRE pieces I've TV I've ever witnessed :disco:

Lydia confirmed on her story today that Gina is the ONLY Housewife she still currently speaks to :disco: / :( and also that season 5 is set to start filming again THE SECOND restrictions are lifted in Melbourne, so we will deffo get it ONE DAY!

Sort of sad Gina and Lydia haven't extended the olive branch to Janet, IMAGINE THE POWER! :disco:
 
ZG and I finally finished Melbourne the other day - I enjoyed it, but season four definitely felt like a BIT of a bump down to earth after the glory of the Pettifleur era. I also found myself missing Chyka quite a bit - obviously she was never the most exciting, but I felt like the show missed those glimpses of her relatively normal life and well-adjusted family. Sally felt like she was meant to fill that role, but her home life was (understandably) a bit MAUDLIN and it felt like the editors were trying to make me cry every time she had a scene at home.

Do any of our Melbourne detectives have some insider goss on whether Sally really did call Gina a W** B****? As much as I enjoy Gina, she did seem a BIT too big for her boots this season and I do wonder whether she'd throw out something like that (knowing it's simply her word against Sally's and that of course Lydiot would say anything to stay in with her), and I didn't get the impression Sally would be quite so nasty...

W** B**** was a TOTAL LIE that Gina (and poor innocent Lydiot) just kept up in a VAIN ATTEMPT to try and save face :D

The parallels to Donald being shacked up in the White House rn and Gina persisting with it are quite uncanny :D
 
Life without Pettifleur has been rather bleak. Imagine having her and Gamble locked up in a house with the rest.

It’s Jackie that needs to go, she’s insufferable.
 
And yeah, season 4 is Gina's worst season. She got Nene Leakes syndrome where she obviously thought she was better than the show (spoiler to almost ALL Housewives: YOU AREN'T)

In fact I can’t see any of them not voting for him. Maybe not Chyka and her gay husband.
 
Sally was sort-of good as a reason to RATTLE Gina, but WHY Gina was so rattled is still unclear.
I maintain my opinion that scattering your recently deceased husband's ashes ON CAMERA is absolutely foul, and she will never have any respect from me as a result.
 
Gina was definitely a bit too high on her own supply for my liking this time around! I was stanning Lydia and of course queen JANET far more this season :disco: Lydia ensuring we don't see hide nor hair of Johanna after the backlash but instead employing an entire CADRE of kitchen slaves because she wouldn't lower herself to peeling some potatoes was a real highlight.

That did seem a bit OFF, yeah. I actually wonder if becoming a Housewife right after your husband's death (to the extent you've already started filming just six months after it) could be classed as some sort of hysterical grief reaction? I'd be interested to know if she regrets doing the show now.
 
She definitely regrets doing the show. She was one of those who signs on thinking they’re going to bring a bit of CLASS to the proceedings but that’s like someone trying to bring REAL MUSIC to EUROVISION. Talk about missing the point!

At the end of the day I did feel bad for her because she was grieving but she was a PLEB who worked at Harpers Bazaar for thirty fucking seconds and would have been another Susie if Gina hadn’t given her her MOMENT on the show.

Lydia is SO PROBLEMATIC, but also such a WONDERFUL and compelling watch I can overlook it all for the sake of my own entertainment MAYBE :eyes:

I enjoyed her interviewing the prospective SERFS and then choosing to surprise them by giving them all a job, which was blatantly just because she'd seen Jackie do the same thing with burlesque dancers in a previous season and thought it would make her look good :eyes:
 
Oh why don't they just dump all the Melb and Chesh episodes on Netflix or whatever, I feel I'll never catch up as downloading on my phone is such a faff.

Gina and Dawn are such titans :disco:

Although I'd say Melbourne has the stronger ensemble cast.

I'll post occasional thoughts here. After 2 episodes:

• Gina is THE ICON already. "I'm a lawyer darling, I deal in facts", swiftly followed by "that wasn't my grandmother talking. It was a demon" :D

• Fuck that fake psychic grifter lady. What a BULLSHITTER! Also I remember Natalie Imbruglia was married to the lead singer of Silverchair. OUR NAT definitely bagged the pretty one from the band.

• I remember reading on the top 32 thread that Lydia was THICK, but she's also the richest & the prettiest :)

• Look up GULLIBLE in the dictionary & Janet's picture will be there. HOWLING at how she just fully bought into all of FAKE PSYCHIC GRIFTER's bullshit, although she does remind ME OF ME when she's a bottle of wine or more deep :D

• Gina being UNBOTHERED & ENDLESSLY QUOTABLE despite the others ganging up on her! The star of the show. Her being late would probably INFURIATE me too but I think she's probably doing it in part to troll the others.
• Andrea is a horrible witch & I don't like her. She reminds me of a certain sort of customer you occasionally get in the shop that treats you with disdain as "the help" - FUCK HER
• Janet does have a warmth to her - in comparison to the rest at least - but she's clearly a WHICHEVER WAY THE WIND IS BLOWING sort of gal. I bet she flips back to TEAM GINA when G turns out to be the star of the show
• Still no memory of Chyka's husband - barely any memory of Chyka herself EITHER :basil:
• Fake Psychic Grifter's husband is a shit stirrer. I keep forgetting his name so I'll just call him KEVIN. He looks like a Kevin.
